The guests for your Halloween party are invited. The pumpkin is already at the door. Now all that's missing is something spooky for the window, wall and table. This wooden spider made of HDF brings Halloween decorations into your home. You can paint it, stick things on it or simply hang it up as it is. It's made for your craft afternoon. A plain silhouette becomes your very own spooky decoration.

What changes for you

  • You design your Halloween decorations exactly in your own style. The HDF is untreated, so you can paint it, decorate it with stickers, coat it or oil it.
  • You'll find the right size for every spot, from a small window decoration to a big spider on the front door. Widths range from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • No tedious sawing or sanding for you. The spider is laser-cut and arrives with smooth edges.
  • When crafting with children, you have a ready-made shape. All that's needed is paint and imagination. No sharp tools, no drawing out first.
  • You can decorate with it year after year. The 3 mm fibreboard keeps its shape and is easy to store.

Why this wooden spider makes a difference

Shop-bought Halloween decorations often look the same everywhere. A spider you've decorated yourself shows your own style. Painted jet black, covered in glitter or brightly coloured by little hands: each piece turns out the way you want. And when the party is over, the spider simply goes into the decoration box until next year.

Material & finish

The spider is made of 3 mm MDF or HDF. This high-density fibreboard is flat and keeps its shape, so it's easy to paint and decorate. The cutout is laser-cut. This gives it the typical brown edge and a clear, clean outline. The surface is untreated, not varnished and not glazed. So you're working on pure natural material. Wood fibres naturally vary in shade and can show small irregularities. That makes every piece unique. It's part of the material and not a defect. Every spider is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the MDF spider

  • Crafting with children before Halloween: every child paints their own spider. By evening, a whole spider family is hanging in the window.
  • On the front door or in the hallway: a big spider 40 or 50 cm wide greets your guests. It gives them their first shiver before they even ring the bell.
  • On the party table: scatter small spiders between candles and pumpkins. Your Halloween table is decorated down to the last detail.
  • In the shop window or on the counter: with a set of 25 or 50 spiders, you can decorate a bakery, café or shop for the Halloween season quickly and consistently.
  • For model making and table scatter: the small sizes from 5 cm fit into dioramas, wreaths or gift wrapping. They come ready-cut and can be used straight away.

Good to know about spiders

Along with the pumpkin and the bat, the spider is one of the classic symbols of Halloween night. Its web has long stood for abandoned, mysterious places. That's exactly why the silhouette works so well as decoration. A single spider in the window tells the whole spooky story.

Care & durability

There's not much to do. Keep the spider dry and away from constant moisture, because the untreated fibreboard isn't sealed. Painting or varnishing it gives the surface extra protection. That way your decoration will last for many Halloween nights.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or decorate the spider? Yes. The MDF/HDF is untreated and in its natural state. You can coat it, paint it, glue things on or oil it, just as you like.

Why does the spider have a brown edge? The cutout is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge. It's part of the process and gives a clean, smooth outline.

Is the spider suitable for outdoors? The material is untreated and not sealed. For outdoor use, you should protect it from moisture, for example with a suitable coat of paint and a covered spot.

Why do the spiders look slightly different? Wood is a purely natural material. The pressed wood fibres vary in shade and can show small irregularities. That's what makes every piece unique.

How tall is my spider? The height depends on the width you choose. For reference: at 10 cm wide, the spider is 4 cm tall.

A wooden cutout is just the start. The real moment comes at Halloween, when your guests spot the spider you decorated yourself. They flinch for a second, then laugh. Just choose your size and quantity. Your imagination does the rest.
