The craft table is set, and your paints and brushes are ready. All that's missing is a motif that makes you want to get started. This MDF ibex is made for exactly that. It's a laser-cut animal silhouette in wood fibre board, untreated and ready for your ideas. Just right for your next crafting afternoon. Use it as a mountain goat in a window decoration, as cabin-style table decor or as a project for crafting with children. The simple shape quickly becomes a decoration that is all your own.

What changes for you

  • You can start painting, decorating or writing on it straight away. The HDF comes in its natural state, with no varnish or glaze.
  • Your work looks neat from the very start. The laser cut gives smooth edges, so there's no sanding needed.
  • You'll find the right size for every project. Choose from 5 cm for table scatter up to 50 cm for a big display, in 1 cm steps.
  • You order exactly the quantity you need. Buy a single piece for that one special project. Or choose a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100 for craft groups and larger decorations.

Why this MDF ibex makes a difference in everyday life

Shop-bought decorations often look the same everywhere. A motif you design yourself tells your own story. The ibex brings a mountain and cabin feel into your home. You can leave it natural or paint it in colour. And because the shape comes as a blank, you decide what it becomes: alpine Christmas decor, a window decoration or a small gift.

Material & finish

The silhouette is made from 3 mm HDF/MDF fibreboard. It is sturdy enough to stand up, hang or decorate, yet pleasantly light. Laser cutting gives clean, smooth edges and a neat finish. HDF is made from pressed wood fibres, so the fibres vary in shade and may show small irregularities. This is not a flaw. It makes every piece one of a kind. The ibex is made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

  • Reference size: at a height of 10 cm, the width is 8 cm
  • Cut: laser cut, smooth edges

How to use the ibex

  • For Christmas crafting: paint the silhouettes in white and gold. Your Advent table gets an alpine look that doesn't feel like it came from a department store.
  • For crafting with children: every child designs their own ibex. At the end, everyone has a little work of art to show off proudly at home.
  • As a window decoration: hang the mountain goat in your window. Even from outside, your home looks lovingly decorated.
  • For model making: the small sizes fit into your mountain landscape as animal figures. The 1 cm steps help you match your scale.
  • In a café, a mountain hut or at a market stall: place a few large silhouettes on the counter or shelf. Your display instantly speaks of mountains, hearty snacks and cosiness. And it takes little effort to set up.

Good to know about the ibex

The ibex has long been a symbol of the Alps. It is sure-footed, resilient and closely tied to the mountains. It is also one of the twelve signs of the zodiac, Capricorn, and stands for the weeks around New Year. So the motif suits cabin and mountain decor. It also makes a personal gift idea for anyone with a birthday between late December and mid-January.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Store the untreated ibex in a dry place and protect it from lasting moisture. That way the wood fibre board keeps its shape and can still be decorated long after. A dry cloth is enough for dusting.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or decorate the ibex? Yes. The surface is untreated and takes paint, glue and varnish well. You can paint it, stick things on it or decorate it however you like.

How wide is the figure? The width depends on the height you choose. At 10 cm high it is approx. 8 cm wide. Other sizes follow the same proportions.

Do I need to sand the edges? No. The ibex is laser-cut, so it has smooth edges. You can start decorating straight away.

Do all the cutouts look the same? The shape is identical, but the fibre structure of the board is not. The fibres vary in shade and may show small irregularities. Every piece is unique.

A wooden silhouette is just the start. A plain blank becomes your own mountain world – painted, glued and decorated with joy. Simply choose your size and quantity. The rest happens at your craft table.
