Why this wooden star makes a difference every day
A good blank takes care of the tedious part and leaves you the fun part: decorating. Instead of sawing or cutting out stars, you just get started. In the end, homemade Christmas decorations hang in your window, and you can be truly proud of them. When crafting for Christmas with children, what counts is that it works out and the fun comes first.
Material & finish
The star is made from 3 mm HDF/MDF fibreboard. It is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck. That is why the edges are evenly smooth and the finish is clean. The board is untreated, neither varnished nor stained. So you can paint it, colour it in or glue things onto it. As a pressed fibreboard, HDF always shows lighter and darker fibres and small irregularities. This is not a flaw. It makes every piece one of a kind. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, just more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the star
- For making Christmas decorations: paint the stars and thread ribbon through the hole. Soon a homemade starry sky sparkles in your window.
- For crafting with children: every child decorates their own star. Afterwards they proudly hang it up in their bedroom.
- For making an Advent calendar: number 24 small stars and hang them up. The countdown to Christmas becomes a decoration in itself.
- As a gift tag: attach a star with writing on it to your parcel. Your present feels personal even before it's unwrapped.
- In a café, shop or at a market stall: with the large sets you can decorate your shop window and counter in a uniform way. They're quick to hang up, with all stars at the same height and the same spacing.
Good to know about the star
The star has always been part of Christmas. It stands for the Star of Bethlehem, which is said to have shown the way to the manger. That's why this blank doesn't just suit a child's bedroom. It works just as well for Advent and nativity decorations, on the Christmas tree or in a festively decorated shop window.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store the stars in a dry place and keep them away from constant moisture. As untreated fibreboard, they don't like getting wet. That way they keep their shape, and you can hang them up again year after year.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the star or glue things onto it? Yes. The board is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, varnishes and glue stick directly to the surface.
How do I hang up the star? Every star has a pre-cut hole. Simply thread ribbon, string or wire through it and hang it up.
Why do the stars look slightly different? HDF/MDF is made of pressed wood fibres. These can vary in brightness and show small irregularities. This is exactly what makes every piece unique.
Do I need to sand the edges? No. The laser cut leaves smooth edges, so you can start designing straight away.
This 3 mm HDF cutout is made for an afternoon of painting and gluing at the kitchen table. In the evening, a homemade starry sky shines in the window. Just choose your size and quantity. You do the rest at home.
