Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The Advent wreath is up and the fairy lights are hanging. But something is still missing at the window and on the wall. An 8-pointed star made of HDF is just right for this. You paint it, glue things onto it or leave it natural. Then you hang it exactly where your home could use a touch more Christmas. And if you combine several sizes, you'll gradually create a whole sky full of stars.
What changes for you
- You design the star just the way you like it. The HDF is untreated, so you can paint it, glue things onto it or hang it up as it is.
- You can start crafting straight away with no extra work. The laser-cut cutout has smooth edges that don't fray or splinter.
- You'll find the right size for any space. Choose a width from 5 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can kit out larger projects in one go. The 8-point star comes singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- You get clean workmanship from our own production. Every star is laser-cut by Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.
Why this 8-point star makes a difference in everyday life
Ready-made decorations often look the same everywhere. A blank to decorate yourself lets you match colours and style to your home. Go for simple Scandinavian white, glitter for the children's room or leave it natural on a branch. That way you create Christmas decorations that really suit you. And you'll be happy to bring them out again every year.
Material & finish
The star is made from 3 mm thick HDF/MDF fibreboard. It is light enough to hang in a window. At the same time, it keeps its shape and stays flat. The laser cut gives it a smooth edge. You can paint it or glue things onto it straight away. The board is untreated, not varnished or glazed. Paint, glue and napkin decoupage stick well. HDF is a pressed fibreboard. It always shows fibres in lighter and darker shades and small irregularities. This makes every star unique and is not a flaw. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the star
- In the window during Advent: hang a few stars on fine thread. The view from outside looks welcoming before anyone even rings the bell.
- In the children's room: combine stars of different sizes on the wall or ceiling. Your child falls asleep under their very own starry sky.
- At the craft table: each child paints their own star. Later, the tree is hung with decorations that have a story instead of off-the-shelf ones.
- For model making and craft projects: the blank serves as a cleanly cut base shape. You save yourself the hard work of sawing it out by hand.
- In a bakery, café or shop: stars in several sizes in the shop window or above the counter. Your Christmas decorations are up in a few minutes and can be redesigned every year.
- Our tip: Order several sizes at once. Combine different widths on the wall or ceiling to create a sky full of stars. It looks far livelier than lots of motifs all the same size.
Good to know about the HDF star
HDF is made of finely pressed wood fibres. Unlike solid wood, it has no grain direction. That's why the cutout doesn't splinter during laser cutting. It also takes paint evenly, without blotchy patches soaking in. This is exactly why crafters love the material. Priming, painting, gluing: everything works particularly cleanly on the smooth surface.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. An occasional dusting is enough to keep the star looking good for a long time. As the fibreboard is untreated, store it in a dry place and protect it from prolonged moisture. Then you'll enjoy your decoration for many years.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the star or glue things onto it? Yes. The HDF is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. Acrylic paint, glue and napkin decoupage stick well to the smooth surface.
How big is the star at my chosen width? Height and width are roughly the same. At a width of 10 cm, the height is approx. 10 cm.
Are the edges cleanly cut? Yes. The star is laser-cut, so it has smooth edges. You don't need to sand it before decorating.
Why do the stars look slightly different? HDF is a board made of pressed wood fibres. The fibres vary in shade and may show small irregularities. This is typical of the material and makes every piece unique.
Is the star suitable for outdoor use? The board is untreated and should be protected from prolonged moisture. Outdoors, we recommend a sheltered spot and a covering seal of varnish or glaze.
A star-shaped fibreboard is only the starting point. What counts is the evening when the paint dries. The stars move to the window, and your home feels a bit more like Christmas. Simply choose your size and quantity – and start creating.
