Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.Advent is just around the corner and the children want to make things. You're still looking for a base that holds up better than paper. The Classic fir tree made of 3 mm MDF is made for exactly this. It's a sturdy wooden cutout in the shape of a tree. You can paint it, decorate it or simply stand it up as it is. A crafting afternoon turns into Christmas decorations that really last – made for your craft table.
What changes for you
- You can start painting, decorating or oiling straight away – the MDF/HDF is untreated and takes paint and glue well.
- Your decorations look clean and precise – thanks to the smooth, laser-cut edges. The typical brown edge gives every fir tree a clear outline.
- You'll find the right size for every idea, from a small hanging decoration to a large window picture. You can choose any height from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- When you do Christmas crafts with children, you won't need to buy more – the sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces are enough for the whole group.
- Your gifts and decorations look a little different every time. The wood fibres vary in shade, so each piece turns out slightly differently.
Why this wooden fir tree makes a difference in everyday life
Homemade Christmas decorations feel different from shop-bought ones. They tell the story of the afternoon they were made. A wood fibre blank gives your craft project a solid base from the start. The fir tree stands steady, is easy to hold and stays part of your decorations for years. Instead of thinking up something new each year, you simply bring out your painted trees again.
Material & finish
The Classic fir tree is made of 3 mm MDF or HDF. These are high-density fibreboards made from pressed wood fibres. They feel smooth and don't splinter. The surface is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint, oil or decorate it as you like. The cutout is laser-cut, which gives it smooth edges with the typical brown rim. As a natural material, the fibres vary in shade and occasionally show small irregularities. This is exactly what makes each piece unique. Every fir tree is made in our own production in Pößneck, carefully finished in Thuringia.

How to use the Classic fir tree
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own little fir tree. In the end, a whole forest full of memories hangs in the window.
- For an Advent calendar: number 24 small fir trees and hang them up. Your homemade Advent calendar gets a motif that comes back every year.
- On the festive table: a fir tree at every place, labelled with a name. Your guests find their seats and take the card home as a keepsake.
- On Christmas cards and presents: a small fir tree glued on turns a simple card into something people keep.
- In model making: choose the tree shape in the right size and place it in your scene. No need to saw it out yourself.
- For cafés, shops or market stalls: large fir trees up to 50 cm work as shop window and counter decorations. Small sizes work as price tags or hanging decorations. With a set of 25, 50 or 100 pieces, you can decorate the whole area quickly and in a matching style.
Good to know about the fir tree
For centuries, the evergreen fir tree has stood for constancy and hope. This custom gave rise to the decorated Christmas tree in German-speaking countries. That's why the motif suits not only the window and the tree. It also works as winter decoration that can stay up all through December.
Care & durability
There isn't much to do: store the fir trees in a dry place and simply wipe them with a dry cloth if needed. The fibreboard is untreated, so avoid lasting moisture. This keeps the surface smooth, and your painted pieces will still look good next year.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint or decorate the fir tree? Yes. The MDF/HDF is untreated and can be painted, oiled or decorated with glued-on materials. It's ideal for crafts with acrylic paints, napkins or glitter.
Why does the fir tree have a brown edge? The cutout is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown rim along the edges. The edges are smooth and cleanly cut.
How wide is the fir tree at the height I choose? The shape is proportional: at a height of 10 cm, the width is approx. 8 cm. Other heights scale accordingly.
Do all fir trees look exactly the same? The shape does, the surface not quite. Wood fibres vary in shade and may show small irregularities. This isn't a defect. It makes each piece unique.
Is the fir tree suitable for outdoor use? The board is untreated and should be protected from lasting moisture. If you use it outside, choose a sheltered, dry spot.
A wooden cutout turns into an afternoon of paintbrushes clattering at the kitchen table. And into a little fir tree that finds its place in the window again every year. Simply choose your height and the number of pieces. You design the rest yourself.
