Advent is getting closer. Paints, brushes and a cup of tea are on the table. And your children can't wait to get started. This modern fir tree is a wooden cutout made from 3 mm thick HDF. You can paint it, stick things on it and decorate it. It's made for your next afternoon of crafting. A simple tree silhouette becomes Christmas decoration that you really made yourselves.

What changes for you

  • You can start as soon as the craft idea strikes. The HDF comes untreated in its natural finish. You can paint it, stick things on it or oil it straight away.
  • Your decoration fits exactly where you want it, from the Advent calendar to the windowsill. You choose the height yourself, from 3 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You get clean results with no sanding or touching up. The edges are laser cut and smooth. They have the typical brown rim that gives the tree a clear outline.
  • Larger projects are easy to plan, such as Christmas crafts with kids in a group or class. The fir tree is available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.

Why this wooden cutout makes a difference every day

Shop-bought decorations look the same everywhere. Ones you make yourself say something about you. With the Modern fir tree you can make Christmas decorations in no time that suit your home. In your colours, your size, your style. The modern, pared-back shape has clear lines and no frills. So even left plain and natural, it looks calm in a room.

Material & finish

The fir tree is laser cut from 3 mm MDF or HDF. These are high-density fibreboards. They keep their shape and are easy to work evenly. The edges are smooth. The laser cut leaves the characteristic brown rim. The material is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So paints, glues and oils stick reliably. As a natural material, the fibres show lighter and darker areas and may have small irregularities. That makes every piece one of a kind. Every fir tree is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the Modern fir tree

  • Crafting with kids: everyone paints their own fir tree. In the end, a small, colourful forest stands on the windowsill, and everyone is proud of it.
  • For an Advent calendar: number 24 small fir trees and hang them up. Year after year, the calendar becomes part of your own family tradition.
  • Making Christmas cards: glue a mini fir tree onto the card. Your greeting becomes a small gift that people like to keep.
  • On the festive table: a fir tree with a name at every place. Your guests find their seat and take the tree home as a keepsake.
  • In model making: combine different heights. This creates a tree backdrop with depth, without any fiddly cutting.
  • For cafés, bakeries or shops: several fir trees in graduated sizes in the shop window or on the counter. Your Christmas display is set up in a few minutes. You can redesign it every year.

Good to know about the fir tree

For centuries, the evergreen fir has stood for life and endurance in the middle of winter. This custom gave rise to the Christmas tree as we know it today. That's why the motif suits not only Advent but also winter decorations long after the holidays.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Store it somewhere dry and avoid constant moisture, as the HDF is untreated. A dry cloth is all you need to dust it. That way your painted or natural trees keep their shape and colour for years.

Options & what's included

  • Height of your choice: 3 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps
  • Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces
  • Supplied untreated in natural finish – paints and decorative materials shown in the product images are not included

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the tree straight away? Yes. The HDF is untreated. It is neither varnished nor glazed. Paint, glue and oil stick without any pre-treatment.

Why does the fir tree have a brown edge? The cutout is laser cut. This creates the typical brown rim with smooth edges. It's a feature of the process and gives the silhouette a clear outline.

Do all fir trees look exactly the same? The shape does, the surface not quite. HDF is made of pressed wood fibres. These vary in shade and may show small irregularities. This is not a defect. It makes every piece unique.

How wide is the fir tree at my chosen height? As a guide: at a height of 10 cm, the width is approx. 8 cm. The ratio of width to height stays the same across all sizes.

A wooden cutout is only the start. What counts is the afternoon when brushes, paint and a few simple fir trees become your own Christmas decorations. And the moment they stand on the windowsill for the first time. Just choose your height and quantity and get started.
