Advent is just around the corner. The craft table is set, and the children are waiting with brushes and paints. All that's missing is a shape everyone recognises straight away. The MDF Christmas tree with hole is made for your craft afternoon. It's a smooth blank that you can paint, decorate and hang up, just as you like. Piece by piece, a few simple wooden cutouts become your own Christmas decorations.

What changes for you

  • You can start straight away, with no sanding or finishing. The tree is laser-cut and has clean, smooth edges.
  • Make your decoration truly your own. Paint the blank, stick things on it or oil it, just as you like. The HDF is untreated and takes paint and glue well.
  • Hanging up your finished trees is easy. The hole is already there: thread a ribbon through and you're done.
  • You'll find the right size for every idea, from a small gift tag to a large window decoration. Heights range from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You can plan bigger projects with ease, such as Christmas crafts with a group of children or a shop window display. The cutout is available single or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.

Why this Christmas tree cutout makes a difference

Shop-bought decorations often look the same everywhere. A tree you've designed yourself tells the story of the afternoon it was made. Maybe of children's hands with glitter glue, or of your very own colour idea. On the window, on a branch or on a present, it says something about you that bought Christmas decorations rarely do.

Material & finish

The Christmas tree is made from 3 mm HDF. This is a pressed wood fibre board with an even, sturdy structure. The laser cut leaves smooth edges. They feel pleasant in the hand and are also suitable for children. The material is left natural, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint it, stick things on it or oil it. As with any wood-based material, the shade and grain can vary slightly and small irregularities can occur. This makes every piece one of a kind. The cutout is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. HDF is a wood fibre board like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays sturdy even when thin.

How to use the MDF Christmas tree

  • Christmas crafts with children: each child paints their own little tree. By the evening, a whole family gallery hangs in the window.
  • For an Advent calendar: number 24 small Christmas trees and string them up. Your homemade Advent calendar gets one shape throughout.
  • As gift tags: write a name on it and pull a ribbon through the hole. Every parcel under the tree can be matched to its recipient at a glance.
  • For gifts of money: fold the notes and attach them to the little tree. A plain envelope becomes a small surprise to hang up.
  • In a café, bakery or at a market stall: write prices or greetings on the cutouts and use them to decorate the counter and shop window. With a set of 50 or 100, your whole seasonal decoration is ready in no time.

Good to know about the Christmas tree

The decorated Christmas tree has been part of Christmas in German-speaking countries for centuries. The first records of decorated trees date back to the 16th century. That's why people link the shape with Advent and Christmas straight away. It suits everything meant to bring joy at this time of year: from window decorations and Christmas cards to tags on presents.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Store the cutouts in a dry place and protect them from constant moisture, and they will keep their shape for a long time. If you'd like a tougher surface, you can paint or oil it once you've finished decorating.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the Christmas tree or stick things on it? Yes. The HDF is untreated. You can coat it, stick things on it, paint it or oil it. Paint and glue stick well to the natural surface.

What is the hole for? You thread ribbon, string or wire through the hole. This lets you hang the tree in a window, on a branch or on a present, with no drilling needed.

Is the cutout suitable for outdoor use? The HDF is untreated and cannot withstand constant moisture. It is meant for sheltered indoor use. For outdoor use, you should first paint or seal the surface accordingly.

Do all cutouts look exactly the same? Laser cutting keeps the shape consistently clean. As a wood-based material, however, the shade can vary and small irregularities may show. This is not a flaw. It makes every piece unique.

Can I combine different sizes? Yes. You choose the height from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps and order single pieces or sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100. For example, you can put together a small forest of trees in graduated sizes.

A wooden cutout is only the start. What counts is the afternoon at the kitchen table, spent painting, gluing and laughing. And the little trees that hang in the window long afterwards. Just choose your size and quantity. The rest happens at your home.
