Material & finish

Each tree is made from 3 mm thick HDF/MDF fibreboard. It is firmly pressed, so it keeps its shape. This means the assembled trees stand securely. Laser cutting gives smooth, clean edges that won't bother you while you craft and paint. The board is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So paint and glue adhere well. As a pressed wood material, HDF shows lighter and darker fibres and small irregularities in its structure. This is not a flaw. It makes every piece unique. The trees are made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the slot-together fir tree

• On the windowsill in Advent: three trees in graded sizes side by side. From outside, people look onto a little winter forest.
