Why this MDF Christmas tree makes a difference in everyday life
Shop-bought decorations look the same everywhere. A tree you've designed yourself tells the story of the afternoon it was made. You choose the colour, pattern and size. You get Christmas decorations that really suit your home. And because the silhouette is already cut out, crafting time stays relaxed: no sawing, no tracing, just get creative.
Material & finish
The Christmas tree is laser-cut from 3 mm HDF. This gives a clean outline with a smooth edge. Even children's hands won't catch on splinters. The surface is left natural, not varnished or glazed. So you can paint it, oil it or stick things on it, just as you like. HDF is a board made from pressed wood fibres. As with any wood-based material, the shade and texture can vary slightly. This makes every piece one of a kind. It is not a defect. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the MDF Christmas tree
- Christmas crafts with children: Each child paints their own tree. At the end, a small, colourful row of trees stands on the windowsill, and everyone is proud of it.
- Making Christmas cards: Stick on a small tree of 3 or 4 cm. A simple card becomes a greeting that's clearly handmade.
- Making an Advent calendar: Hang numbered Christmas trees on a string or a branch. It's a calendar you'll bring out again every year.
- Decorating presents: As a tag on the ribbon, it makes even the plainest parcel under the tree stand out.
- For cafés, bakeries or shops: With the sets of 25, 50 or 100 pieces, you can decorate shop windows, counters or tables in one consistent look. They're quick to set up, and you can pick a size to fit the space.
Good to know about the Christmas tree
For centuries, the evergreen fir has been a symbol of life and hope in the middle of winter. The decorated Christmas tree as we know it has its roots in the German-speaking world. That's why the fir tree silhouette isn't just for under the Christmas tree. It suits the whole of Advent and winter, from the first crafting session in November to the table decorations over the holidays.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Store the untreated cutouts somewhere dry and avoid constant moisture. Then they'll keep their shape, and you can bring them out year after year. Trees finished with paint, varnish or oil have extra protection.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the Christmas tree or stick things on it? Yes. The HDF is untreated. You can paint it, oil it, stick things on it or decorate it in other ways. Paint adheres directly to the natural surface.
Are the edges smooth? Yes. The cutout is laser-cut, so it has a smooth edge without splinters. That makes it a good choice when children are crafting too.
Why don't all the cutouts look exactly the same? HDF is made from pressed wood fibres, a natural raw material. So the shade and texture can vary slightly. This makes every piece unique.
Is the Christmas tree suitable for outdoor use? The material is untreated and should be protected from constant moisture. It's best suited to indoor use or sheltered, dry spots.
Which size is right for Christmas cards? For cards and small tags, the small heights from 3 cm work well. For window and table decorations, choose the larger sizes up to 50 cm.
This wooden cutout is the start of an afternoon of painting and gluing at the kitchen table. And of the little row of trees that decorates your home afterwards. Simply choose your size and quantity, and you design the rest. Your Christmas tree is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck.
