The medieval market is just around the corner, and your next craft project is waiting. But you still need a motif that really tells a story. This HDF triskelion comes to you untreated, so it's ready for your own ideas. Paint it, stick things on it, oil it or simply hang it up as it is. That's how a plain wooden cutout becomes a piece of decor in your own style.

What changes for you

  • You are free to design it as you like. The MDF/HDF is left natural and can be painted, decorated, oiled or coloured.
  • You will find exactly the right size for your project. The triskelion can be ordered from 5 to 50 cm wide in 1 cm steps.
  • You can start straight away without any finishing work. The laser-cut edges are smooth – no sanding, no fraying.
  • For bigger plans like craft sessions or market decorations, you get the right supply in one go. The motif is also available in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces.
  • You are holding a piece made in Germany – produced in Thuringia.

Why this triskelion makes a difference in everyday life

Shop-bought decorations often look the same everywhere. A triskelion you design yourself shows exactly what you have in mind. Earthy and Celtic on the wall, brightly painted in a child's room or understated on a shelf. You choose the size and design yourself. So the motif fits your home and your decorations instead of dominating them.

Material & finish

The triskelion is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck from 3 mm thick MDF or HDF. This is high-density wood fibre that keeps its shape and feels pleasantly smooth. Laser cutting gives clean, smooth edges. It also leaves the typical brown rim, which gives the motif a handcrafted look. The surface is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, glues and oils adhere well, and you decide on the finish yourself. HDF is made of pressed wood fibres. The fibres vary in shade and may show small irregularities. This is not a defect – it makes each piece unique.

How to use the triskelion

  • At the craft table with children: everyone paints their own triskelion. In the end, a small work of art hangs in the room, and the whole family is proud of it.
  • As wall decoration: choose a large motif 40 or 50 cm wide, oiled or painted in earthy tones. Your wall gets a calm, Celtic-inspired wooden picture.
  • At a medieval fair or LARP: spread several triskelions around your stall or camp. Your visitors are drawn into the atmosphere as soon as they arrive.
  • In model making: the 3 mm thin cutout fits easily into dioramas and scenery. It adds detail without adding weight.
  • For shops or workshops: with the sets of 10 or more, you can kit out shop windows, sales counters or craft classes in one go. You get a uniform look and quick set-up.

Good to know about the triskelion

The triskelion, also called a triskele, is one of the oldest ornaments in Europe. It is best known from Celtic art. The three spirals are often seen as a symbol of threes, such as birth, life and death. That is why the motif is so popular for Celtic-inspired decorations, at medieval fairs and with fans of Irish symbolism. It also makes a fitting gift for anyone who loves this world.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Store it somewhere dry and dust it off when needed. The HDF is untreated, so protect it from constant moisture. Or give it a protective finish yourself with paint, varnish or oil. That way your motif keeps its shape and looks good for a long time.

Options & what's included

  • Choose any width: 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps
  • Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces
  • The triskelion is supplied untreated in its natural state – coloured designs in the product images are for inspiration only

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or decorate the triskelion? Yes. The surface is untreated and can be painted, decorated, oiled or coloured. Paints and glues adhere well.

Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The motif is laser-cut. This creates the typical dark edge. It is part of the process and also ensures smooth, clean edges.

Do all pieces look exactly the same? The shape does, but the surface varies slightly. HDF is made of pressed wood fibres. These can vary in shade and show small irregularities. This is not a fault – it makes each piece unique.

How tall is the motif at the width I choose? For reference: at 10 cm wide, the height is 9.5 cm. All other sizes are in proportion.

Is the triskelion suitable for outdoor use? Untreated, it is for indoor use only. For outdoor use, protect it first with paint, varnish or oil.

A wooden cutout is only the start. The best part is the moment a raw shape turns into exactly the motif you imagined. After that, every look at it feels a little more special. Just choose your width and quantity – you design the rest.
