Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The first Sunday of Advent is just around the corner. The children are already at the table with their brushes. And you're still looking for something you can all decorate together. A Christmas bauble made of HDF is just right for your crafting afternoon. It's an untreated wooden shape in the form of a bauble. You can paint it, stick things on it or write on it, just as you like. That's how a simple wooden cutout becomes your very own Christmas decoration.
What changes for you
- You make your own Christmas decorations instead of buying them ready-made. The MDF bauble is untreated, so you can paint, decorate, varnish or oil it.
- You'll find the right size for every idea, from a small gift tag to a large window picture. Widths range from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- The baubles are easy to work with and need no finishing. They are laser cut and have smooth edges.
- Planning bigger projects is easy, for example Christmas crafts with children in a group or class. The baubles come singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- What you hold in your hand comes from our own production. Every bauble is made by Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.
Why this Christmas bauble makes a difference
Home-made Christmas decorations tell more of a story than shop-bought ones. On the tree, in the window or on a present, it isn't just any bauble. It's yours. The plain wooden shape gives you plenty of freedom. Children can paint it in bright colours, or you can keep it subtle in natural tones for a calm, even look. And because you choose the size, the bauble fits your project, not the other way round.
Material & finish
The bauble is made of 3 mm MDF or HDF. These are high-density fibreboards made from pressed wood fibres. The material is untreated, unvarnished and unstained. Paints, glues and oils stick to it well, and you decide on the finish yourself. Laser cutting leaves the typical brown edge. It is part of the process and also gives clean, smooth cut edges. As a natural material, the wood fibres show lighter and darker patterns and may have small irregularities. This makes every piece unique and is not a defect.

How to use the Christmas bauble
- Christmas crafts with children: everyone paints their own bauble. At the end, a row of little works of art hangs on the tree, and everyone is proud of them.
- As a gift tag: write a name on a small bauble. Your parcel won't need an extra card.
- In the window or on the wall: hang up a large bauble with a subtle design. The room feels like Christmas in no time at all.
- For model making and all kinds of decorations: the flat 3 mm shape can be decorated, covered and combined. That way, a cutout becomes exactly the piece you were missing.
- In a shop, café or at the market: with a set of 25, 50 or 100, you can decorate your shop window or counter in a uniform style. They're quick to hang up and you can write on each one, for example with offers or greetings.
Good to know about the Christmas bauble
The glass Christmas bauble dates back to 19th-century Thuringia. Glassblowers in Lauscha made the very first ones. This wood-fibre bauble continues the story in its own way. It also comes from Thuringia, from our own production. This time, though, you do the decorating yourself.
Care & durability
Care is simple. The material is untreated, so it's best to store the baubles somewhere dry and keep them away from constant moisture. If you'd like a more durable surface, you can paint or oil them. That way your decorations will stay in shape for many Christmases.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the bauble straight away? Yes. The MDF/HDF is untreated, unvarnished and unstained. You can decorate, paint, varnish or oil it straight away.
Why are the edges brown? The baubles are laser cut. This creates the typical brown laser edge. It also means the edges are smooth and cleanly cut.
How big is the bauble in the width I choose? Width and height are the same. For example, if you choose a width of 10 cm, the bauble is also 10 cm high.
Why don't all the baubles look exactly the same? Wood is a purely natural material. The pressed fibres vary in shade and may show small irregularities. This makes every piece unique.
This cutout is made for an afternoon at the kitchen table, spent painting, gluing and laughing. And for the bauble on the tree that reminds you of it every year. Just choose your size and quantity. You'll do the rest together.
