Why this candy cane makes a difference
Ready-made Christmas decorations often look the same everywhere. A blank, on the other hand, gives you complete freedom: you choose the colour, pattern and style – and in the end, what hangs on your tree or in your window is truly one of a kind. Especially when crafting with children, you create more than just decorations: a shared afternoon that you'll happily remember every time you look at the finished pieces.
Material & finish
The candy cane is made of 3 mm thick HDF/MDF fibreboard. It is sturdy enough to hang up or stand on a surface. It is also light enough to hang on the tree. Laser cutting gives smooth, clean edges that don't fray. The surface is left natural. It is not varnished or glazed. This means paints, glues and pens stick well. Each board is made of pressed wood fibre. So every board shows fibres in different light shades and small irregularities in its texture. This is not a defect. It makes every piece one of a kind. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the candy cane
- For Advent crafting: lay out paints, brushes and the blanks on the table – and the children design their own tree decorations that can go back on the tree year after year.
- On the window or door: a large candy cane painted red and white – and even from outside, everyone can see that Christmas has arrived at yours.
- As a gift tag: a small candy cane on the parcel, labelled with a name – and the present looks lovingly prepared before it's even opened.
- In shops, cafés or bakeries: with a set of 25 or 50, you can decorate your shop window and counter in a matching style – quick to hang, seasonal and easy to pack away again.
- For model making and all kinds of decorations: the flat cutout can be embellished, combined and built into your own projects.
Good to know about the candy cane
The curved shape of the candy cane looks like a shepherd's crook. For generations it has been a fixed part of Christmas imagery – on the tree, in the window and on gifts. Paint it in classic red and white stripes or entirely in your own colours. Either way, everyone recognises it straight away as a sign of Christmas.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do: store the untreated blanks in a dry place and keep them away from constant moisture, and they'll keep their shape. Once painted or varnished, your homemade Christmas decorations will bring you joy for many years.

Frequently asked questions
Is the candy cane already painted? No, it's supplied as a natural blank – not varnished or glazed. That way, you can paint, decorate or coat it according to your own ideas.
How wide is the candy cane? The width depends on the height you choose: at a height of 10 cm, it is approx. 4 cm.
Are the edges smooth? Yes, the candy cane is laser-cut and therefore has smooth, clean edges – pleasant for crafting, even with children.
Why do the boards look different? HDF is made of compressed wood fibres, which can vary in lightness and show small impurities. This natural texture makes every piece unique.
In the end, it's not about a fibreboard cutout. It's about the moment your hand-painted candy cane hangs on the tree – and you know: there's only one like it, and it's yours. Simply choose your size and quantity and get started.
