Why this cardboard dirndl makes a difference
Ready-made decorations often look the same everywhere. A motif you design yourself tells your own story. With the cardboard dirndl, you decorate your table, window or counter yourself. It takes little effort, and you choose exactly the colours that suit your party. When crafting with children, the cutout turns into an afternoon spent together. At the end, everyone proudly holds their own traditional dress.
Material & finish
The solid board in bookbinding quality feels pleasantly sturdy in your hand. It can also take firmer brushstrokes. The smooth surface takes paint, glue and varnish well. The lasered brown edges give the motif a clear, clean outline. Because the cardboard is untreated, you're free to decorate it however you like. Try acrylic paint, napkin decoupage, glitter or fabric scraps. Every cutout is made with careful finishing in Thuringia.

How to use the cardboard dirndl
- Before your Oktoberfest party: Thread several dirndls onto a string. Hang the garland over the buffet and the party mood is set.
- At a birthday or engagement dinner: Write a name on a small dirndl for each place setting. The place card becomes a keepsake to take home.
- At a crafting afternoon with children: Every child paints their own traditional dress. And the window decoration for the children's room is done too.
- In a shop, café or at the bakery counter: Place large cutouts of up to 50 cm in the shop window. Your traditional dress or festival weeks are announced without a lengthy set-up.
- For a wedding with a traditional dress theme: Attach dirndl tags to guest favours or the candle arch. The theme then runs through all your decorations.
Good to know about the dirndl
The dirndl was originally the work dress of maids in the Alpine region. In the 19th century, it became festive traditional wear. Today, hardly any other garment stands for folk festivals, good company and tradition in the same way. That's why the motif works so well as a decoration. A dirndl on a garland or place card tells your guests at first glance that it's time to celebrate.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Store the untreated cardboard in a dry place and keep it away from lasting moisture. That way it keeps its shape, and you can reuse your decorations for many parties. Once varnished or covered, the surface is protected even more.
