Why this cardboard kingfisher makes a difference day to day
A ready-made blank takes care of the most tedious part: drawing and cutting out. You start straight with the fun part – designing, combining, hanging up. Whether you're crafting with children or decorating for a wedding or birthday, you'll quickly make something that really looks like you.
Material & finish
The solid bookbinding board feels pleasantly firm in your hand. It keeps its shape under paint, glue or varnish. This isn't thin card that ripples at the first brushstroke. The smooth surface is untreated. You can write on it, paint it, glue on it or varnish it. The laser-browned edges give each motif a calm, natural frame. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia – carefully finished, piece by piece.

How to use the cardboard kingfisher
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own bird. In the end, a small, colourful flock hangs in the nursery window.
- For a wedding or engagement: write a name on the kingfisher and it becomes a place card. Your guests can take it home as a keepsake.
- For birthdays, parties or Valentine's Day: combine several sizes on a string. Your garland above the table is ready in a few minutes.
- Card making: add a small kingfisher to a greetings card. Your message clearly stands out from shop-bought cards.
- In a café, shop or at a market stall: large silhouettes in the window or on the counter add a calm nature motif. They're quick to put up and suit any season. If you like, you can design them to match your interior.
Good to know about the kingfisher
Because of its bright blue plumage, the kingfisher is often called the "flying jewel". In many places it's seen as a lucky charm. That's why the motif suits occasions when you wish someone luck – a wedding, an engagement or a small gift for Valentine's Day.
Care & durability
There isn't much to do. Store the untreated board in a dry place and protect it from constant moisture. Then it will keep its shape and smooth surface for a long time. For outdoor use, we recommend sealing it, for example with varnish.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the kingfisher and glue things onto it? Yes. The board is untreated and can be painted, glued and varnished. The smooth surface takes paint well.
How sturdy is the cutout? The solid bookbinding board is 1.2 mm thick and weighs 755 g/m². It's much firmer than ordinary craft card and keeps its shape while you work on it.
How do I know how wide my kingfisher will be? The width is roughly the same as the height. At 10 cm high, the bird measures 10 cm wide.
Is the material sustainable? Yes, the board is made from 100% recycled material and is produced in Thuringia.
