Why this cardboard spruce cone makes a difference in everyday life
Homemade Christmas decorations tell more of a story than bought ones. The cones you painted with your children hang in the window. The garland from your last craft evening swings above the buffet. The cone silhouette is already cut to shape. So you can focus fully on colour, glitter or paper. The result still looks well thought out. Bit by bit, you build up winter decorations that really suit your home.
Material & finish
The bookbinding-quality solid board feels pleasantly firm in your hand. It copes with more vigorous work with brush, glue or varnish. The smooth surface takes paint evenly. The laser-cut brown edges give the shape a calm, finished border. No reworking is needed. As the board is untreated, acrylic paint, craft glue and paper stick reliably. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the spruce cone
- Crafting with children on an Advent Sunday: each child paints their own cone. By evening, a colourful row hangs in the window, and everyone is proud of it.
- As homemade Christmas decorations: thread several cones onto a string. Hang it over the fireplace or along the banister for a garland no one else has.
- On presents: write a name on a small cone and use it as a gift tag. The parcel no longer needs a separate card.
- For weddings, birthdays or winter parties: scatter or hang cones in different sizes. They give your table decorations a natural theme without much planning.
- For cafés, bakeries or market stalls: large cones up to 50 cm in the shop window or on the counter signal Advent at a glance. With sets of 25, 50 or 100 pieces, you can decorate a whole shop quickly.
Good to know about the spruce cone
What most people call a fir cone is, botanically, almost always a spruce cone. Real fir cones break apart on the tree and never fall to the ground whole. The silhouette takes up exactly this familiar, hanging cone shape. That is why it instantly suggests winter forests and Christmas on windows, garlands and trees.
Care & durability
There is not much you need to do. Store the untreated board in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture. It will then keep its shape and can be hung up again year after year. For outdoor use, you can paint or varnish the surface beforehand.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the spruce cone or stick things on it? Yes. The untreated, smooth bookbinding board can be covered, painted, coloured and varnished.
How wide is the cone at the height I choose? The proportions stay the same. At 10 cm high, the cone is 5 cm wide. So the width is roughly half the height.
Is the board suitable for outdoor use? Untreated, it should be kept dry. If you paint or varnish it, it is better protected. You should still avoid constant moisture.
Why are the edges brown? The shape is laser-cut, which creates the typical brown edges. They give the shape a clean, finished border.
Is the material sustainable? The solid board is made from 100 % recycled material and is produced in Thuringia.
A cardboard cutout is just the start. What counts is the moment you stand at the window. Your own cones hang in the light. And Advent looks a little more like you. Simply choose your height and quantity – and get started.
