Why this baby Jesus silhouette makes a difference
Shop-bought Christmas decorations look the same everywhere. A figure you've designed yourself tells the story of the afternoon it was made. The baby Jesus silhouette gives you a calm, clear basic shape with room for your own ideas. Leave it plain and natural, paint it in colour or cover it with paper and fabric. A piece of card becomes part of your nativity scene, your window or your Advent decorations. And every year it's a little reunion.
Material & finish
The solid bookbinding board is 1.2 mm thick and weighs 755 g/m². It feels sturdy in your hand. It doesn't warp as easily as thin paper when you paint it, and it copes well with glue and varnish. The surface is smooth. The laser-cut edges are brown and cleanly cut, so you can start creating straight away. The board is untreated and made entirely from recycled material. Every silhouette comes from our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the baby Jesus silhouette
- During Advent: You paint the figure together with the children – and this year the nativity scene gets a baby Jesus that really comes from you.
- For the nativity play: Each child designs their own silhouette as a prop or keepsake – and takes a piece of the Holy Night home after the performance.
- In the window or on the windowsill: The silhouette becomes part of your own scene in the stable at Bethlehem – and your home looks lovingly decorated at Christmas.
- In nurseries, schools or parishes: With sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 you can supply whole groups. Everyone gets the same shape, yet every result turns out different.
- As a gift tag or card decoration: Take a small size and write a name on it – and your Christmas presents get a personal greeting.
Good to know about the baby Jesus
The tradition of the Christmas crib goes back to Francis of Assisi. In 1223, he had the nativity scene re-enacted in Greccio, Italy. Since then, the baby Jesus in the manger has been an essential part of Christmas for many people. That's exactly why the silhouette works not only as a craft motif. It also serves as the central figure for nativity plays, Midnight Mass and homemade nativity scenes.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Store the silhouette in a dry place, and you can bring it out again year after year. Avoid moisture, as the board is untreated. If you want to protect the figure permanently, you can paint or varnish it.
