Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.Saturday afternoon. The craft table is set with paints, brushes and glue. And right in the middle, a cardboard crab is waiting for some colour. This crab silhouette made of sturdy bookbinding board is just right for your next craft afternoon with children. It gives you a clear shape to start with. You design the rest yourself. An underwater world in the children's room, a seaside garland or table scatter on the buffet: the plain blank becomes exactly the sea creature that fits your idea.
What changes for you
- You can start crafting straight away, with no cutting out. The shape is precisely laser-cut and arrives ready to use.
- Your design keeps its shape even after painting or gluing. That's thanks to the sturdy 1.2 mm solid board, which doesn't warp as easily as thin card.
- You'll find the right size for every idea. You can choose any width from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You decorate with a clear conscience – the cardboard is made from 100% recycled material.
- For larger projects, you save time and trips. With sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, you can kit out a garland, table decoration or shop window in one go.
Why this cardboard crab makes a difference in everyday life
A ready-made cutout takes care of the most tedious part for you. Instead of printing and cutting out templates, you hold a clean shape in your hand. You can focus fully on designing. A craft afternoon with children becomes a relaxed time rather than a test of patience. And your seaside decorations look consistent, because every piece has the same clear silhouette.
Material & finish
The crab is made from 1.2 mm bookbinding board with a weight of 755 g/m². This sturdy solid board feels stable in your hand and is easy to work with. The surface is smooth and untreated, so paint, varnish and glue adhere well. You can paint, coat, varnish or stick things onto the crab. The laser cutting turns the edges brown. This is typical of the process and gives the silhouette a clear outline. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia, and finished carefully there.

How to use the cardboard crab
- Crafting with children: every child gets their own crab to paint. At the end, a colourful underwater world hangs in the children's room.
- For a summer party or a seaside-themed engagement: thread several crabs onto a string. Your garland instantly gives the room a coastal feel.
- On the buffet: scatter small crabs between the platters as table scatter. The table shows the theme of the evening as soon as it's laid.
- In a café or at a market stall: a large crab, painted to match, makes your fish roll or summer offer visible from afar. It's quick to set up and can be reused as often as you like.
- For invitations and greetings cards: stick on a small crab. A plain card becomes a greeting people like to keep.
Good to know about the crab
The crab is not only a classic motif in seaside decoration. It is also one of the twelve signs of the zodiac: Cancer, for birthdays between late June and late July. So the silhouette suits beach and sea themes, and also works as birthday decoration or card embellishment for someone born under the sign of Cancer.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Keep the cardboard crab dry and protect it from constant moisture. Then the untreated board keeps its shape for a long time. Once varnished or painted, the surface is also more resistant. That way, the decoration will see you through many celebrations.

Frequently asked questions

How sturdy is the board? The bookbinding board is 1.2 mm thick and weighs 755 g/m². This solid board is much stiffer than ordinary craft card.
Why are the edges brown? The crab is laser-cut, which turns the edges brown. This is not a defect. It is typical of this precise process.
