It gets dark early outside. Brushes, glue and ribbons are spread across the table – and the children can hardly wait. Want to make a gingerbread man that won't crease the first time you paint it? Then this cutout made of sturdy bookbinding board is just right for your craft afternoon. In a few simple steps, the brown figure becomes a window decoration, a hanging ornament on a fir branch or a motif for your Advent calendar.

What changes for you

  • You can start straight away, with no template or scissors. The gingerbread man arrives laser-cut and ready for you to decorate.
  • Your decorations will last all through Advent – thanks to 1.2 mm solid board, which is much sturdier than ordinary craft paper.
  • You'll find the right size for every idea – from a small 5 cm hanging figure to a large 50 cm window decoration, selectable in 1 cm steps.
  • You can decorate it any way you like – the untreated, smooth surface can be glued on, painted, coated or varnished.
  • You get gingerbread man blanks for crafting in exactly the quantity you need – individually or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.

Why this gingerbread man makes a difference in everyday life

A ready-made cutout takes care of the tedious part and leaves you the fun part: decorating. Instead of cutting out outlines, you can sit back at the table with the children. At the end, neat, even figures hang in the window or on the branch. All cutouts have the same shape, so your Christmas decorations look like a matching set – at home, in the classroom or in a shop window.

Material & finish

The gingerbread man is made of solid board in bookbinding quality. It is firm and holds its shape. At 755 g/m², it feels much heavier and stiffer in the hand than thin card. The smooth surface takes paint and glue reliably. The laser-cut brown edges give the figure its typical gingerbread look, even without paint. The board is untreated and made from 100% recycled material. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia – neatly finished right into the curves.

How to use your gingerbread man

  • Making gingerbread men with children: each child gets a figure and paints the face and buttons – and at the end proudly takes their own gingerbread man home.
  • In the window: combine several sizes to create a window picture that looks festive from inside and out – with no fiddly cutting.
  • For the Advent calendar: 24 small figures, numbered and hung up – and the countdown to Christmas Eve has something you can touch.
  • At Christmas dinner: a labelled figure at every place – and your guests find their seat with a smile.
  • In the bakery, café or at a market stall: large cutouts in the shop window or on the counter draw attention to seasonal products. With sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100, you can kit out several branches or a whole promotion in one go.
  • For weddings, birthdays, parties or Valentine's Day: decorated, labelled or varnished, the figure becomes a tag, a garland or a small party favour.

Good to know about the gingerbread man

Gingerbread has been baked since the Middle Ages – back then mainly in monasteries, where honey and spices were available. The gingerbread man has been part of the Christmas baking tradition for generations. That's why people instantly recognise it as an Advent motif. This is exactly what makes the cutout so rewarding: it reads as Christmas decoration at first glance – in the window just as well as in a bakery display.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Store the gingerbread man in a dry place and protect it from lasting damp. Untreated board prefers warm, dry conditions. Stored flat, the figure keeps its shape, so you can simply hang it up again next year.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint the gingerbread man or stick things on it? Yes. The untreated, smooth solid board can be glued on, painted, coated or varnished – paints adhere well to the surface.

How wide is the figure at the height I choose? The proportions stay the same: at a height of 10 cm, the gingerbread man is 8.5 cm wide. You can use this to work out the width for any other size.

Is the cutout suitable for outdoor use? The board is untreated and should be protected from moisture. Indoors or in a covered, dry spot, the figure will last the whole season.

Is the material sustainable? Yes. The bookbinding board is made from 100% recycled material and is produced in Thuringia.

Are the brown edges intentional? Yes. They are created during laser cutting and give the figure its typical gingerbread colour, even unpainted.

This cardboard cutout is the start of an afternoon when the table is full of paints. Everyone quietly paints away. By evening, the first gingerbread men are hanging in the window. Simply choose your size and quantity – the rest happens at your home.
