It gets dark early outside. Inside, paints, glue and glitter are spread across the table. And the children can hardly wait to get started. With these craft St Nicholas boots made from sturdy bookbinding board, you have the blanks ready to hand. They're just right for your Advent afternoon. The flat St Nicholas boot silhouette is much easier to decorate than a papier-mâché boot blank. It lies flat on the table, you can paint both sides, and later it hangs in the window, light as a feather.

What changes for you

  • You can start crafting straight away instead of cutting out templates first. Every boot arrives cleanly laser-cut and ready to use.
  • Your paints, stickers and glue hold reliably. That's thanks to the smooth, untreated surface of the solid board.
  • You'll find the right size for every idea, from a small gift tag to a large window decoration. You choose the width freely from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Your decoration keeps its shape, even when little hands grab it firmly. The 1.2 mm bookbinding board is noticeably sturdier than ordinary craft card.
  • You can decorate with a clear conscience. The board is made from 100% recycled material.

Why this boot silhouette makes a difference every day

In the window, on the Advent table or as a hanging decoration on a branch: the St Nicholas boot brings instantly recognisable Christmas spirit into the room. And it takes very little effort. The natural brown cardboard looks calm and warm. It suits simple natural decorations just as well as brightly painted children's artwork. A few cutouts become Christmas decorations that really look like you.

Material & finish

The boots are laser-cut from 1.2 mm solid board in bookbinding quality. That's where the typical brown edges come from. They give the silhouette a clean, finished look. The surface is smooth and untreated. So you can stick things on it, paint it, coat it or varnish it, just as your project needs. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. It is neatly finished and, if you like, made in exactly your size.

How to use the St Nicholas boot

  • Crafting with children: each child decorates their own boot with paint and glitter. And on 6 December, the homemade St Nicholas decoration hangs proudly in the window.
  • On the Advent table: scatter small boots between candles and fir sprigs as table scatter. The laid table tells of Advent even before the meal starts.
  • As gift tags: write a name on them and tie them to the parcel. That way every present under the tree finds its owner.
  • For a winter wedding, birthday, party or Valentine's Day: paint the silhouette and use it as a place card or hang it as a garland. A motif that puts people in a good mood straight away.
  • In your business: in a bakery, café or shop, hang several sizes in a staggered row in the shop window or at the counter. An Advent decoration that's quick to put up and can be reused every year.

Good to know about the St Nicholas boot

The custom of putting a boot outside the door on the eve of 6 December goes back to the legends of St Nicholas of Myra. He is said to have secretly given gifts to people in need. So the boot silhouette is more than a pretty Christmas decoration. It's also a lovely motif for St Nicholas greetings, gift tags and little surprises during Advent.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Store the boots dry and flat, and they'll keep their shape. Then you can bring them out again year after year. Avoid constant damp, as the cardboard is untreated. Indoors, though, you can use it in lots of ways.
