The wedding is getting closer and you're still looking for an idea that does more than a classic guest book: a cardboard puzzle where every guest writes on or paints a piece – and at the end, everything comes together into one big picture. The sturdy pieces made from 1.2 mm bookbinding board arrive raw and untreated, just made for your own designs. You decide whether they become wedding wishes, a birthday wall decoration or a shared craft project.

What changes for you

  • You get a keepsake that lasts – because every guest designs a piece and later you put them all together into one picture.
  • You can get started straight away with painting, decorating or writing – thanks to the smooth, untreated surface that takes paint and glue well.
  • Your project fits exactly what you have in mind – because you choose the width from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps and order singly or in a set.
  • You're working with a material that doesn't crease or warp – the solid board at 755 g/m² keeps its shape, even with larger pieces.
  • You can craft with a clear conscience – the board is made from 100% recycled material.

Why this cardboard puzzle makes a difference

Pre-printed decorations look the same at every celebration – a puzzle you design yourselves tells your own story. Whether as a guest book alternative, a message that comes together piece by piece, or a craft idea with children: you give the occasion a personal touch that doesn't disappear into a box after the party, but lives on framed on the wall.

Material & finish

Each piece is made from solid bookbinding board. It is 1.2 mm thick and, at 755 g/m², firm enough for you to glue, paint or varnish it without it warping. The surface is smooth. Precise laser cutting gives clean edges with their typical brown colour. Even left untreated, they look neat and even. The board is untreated, so paints and pens adhere reliably. Every piece is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the cardboard puzzle

  • For a wedding: every guest writes their good wishes on a piece – and after the celebration, the newlyweds put together a picture made entirely of personal words.
  • For a birthday: hand out the pieces to family and friends in advance, and everyone decorates one with birthday wishes – put together, they become a gift you can't buy in any shop.
  • As a money gift for a wedding: attach banknotes to individual pieces – unwrapping becomes a little puzzle and brings a moment of smiles.
  • For an engagement or Valentine's Day: spread your message across several pieces – it only becomes readable once they're put together.
  • Crafting with children: each child paints their own piece – and in the end, you have a shared work of art for the playroom or classroom wall, whether at home, at nursery or at school.
  • In a café or shop: labelled pieces work as price tags or counter decorations. They suit the wood and cardboard materials of your interior. And you can redesign them at any time.

Good to know about bookbinding board

Bookbinding board gets its name because it's traditionally used for book covers – exactly where a material has to stay firm and keep its shape for years. You benefit from this when crafting too: the pieces can handle paint, glue and frequent handling, which makes them especially well suited to keepsakes that are kept or hung up after the celebration.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do: store the pieces in a dry place and avoid prolonged moisture – then the untreated board keeps its shape and your designs stay looking good for a long time.

Options & what's included

  • Width freely selectable from 3 to 50 cm, in 1 cm steps
  • Available singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces
  • The pieces are supplied untreated and natural – ready for your designs

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or decorate the pieces? Yes. The surface is smooth and untreated – you can paint, decorate, coat or varnish it.

How sturdy is the board? The solid board in bookbinding quality is 1.2 mm thick with a grammage of 755 g/m² – it's firm, holds its shape and doesn't crease easily.

Why are the edges brown? The pieces are laser-cut. This creates clean edges with a typical brown colouring – a sign of precise production, not a defect.

Is the material sustainable? Yes, the board is made from 100% recycled material and is produced in Thuringia.

In the end, it's not about cardboard and millimetres. It's about the moment when you put the written-on pieces together and lots of different handwriting becomes one shared picture. Just choose your size and quantity – you'll create the rest together.
