The birthday is getting closer. The wedding decorations finally need to take shape. And you're looking for a base that can take more than thin card. A cardboard square with rounded corners and a hole at the top centre is made for exactly that. Paint it, decorate it, write on it, thread ribbon through it and hang it up. Made for your craft table – from Bütic's own production in Pößneck.

What changes for you

  • You can hang up your finished signs and tags straight away. There's no need to punch holes yourself. The hole is already at the top centre.
  • Your decorations hold up well to paint, glue and varnish. The 1.2 mm bookbinding board is much sturdier than ordinary craft card.
  • You'll find the right size for every project. The width can be chosen from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps. That covers everything from small gift tags to large wall signs.
  • Your designs look clean and consistent, thanks to the laser-cut edges and the smooth surface.
  • You can craft with a clear conscience. The board is made from 100% recycled material.

Why this cardboard square makes a difference day to day

When the basic shape is right, crafting is easier. No cutting, no crooked holes, no annoyance over wavy corners. You can focus on the fun part: designing, lettering and decorating. Your name tags, garland pieces or little messages hang evenly and neatly. The result looks like loving handmade work, not a compromise.

Material & finish

At 755 g/m², the solid bookbinding-quality board feels noticeably sturdy in your hand. It doesn't warp as quickly as thin card while you work on it. The surface is smooth and untreated. Acrylic paint, pens, glue, napkin technique and varnish all adhere well. The edges are laser-cut and therefore brown. This is part of the production process and gives the cutouts a clean, even outline. Every square is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the cardboard square

  • For weddings: write names on small squares and thread ribbon through the hole. Every place at the table gets its own name tag, and guests are happy to take it home.
  • For birthdays: string several squares together to make a garland with letters or numbers. Your party room is decorated in just a few minutes.
  • For a wedding money gift: design a large square as a frame or tag for notes and coins. Instead of an envelope, you hand over something homemade.
  • For Valentine's Day and engagements: write a short message on the square and hang it on a door handle or a present. A small greeting that means a lot.
  • In a café, bakery or market stall: label the squares as price or product signs and hang them on a shelf or counter. Your goods are neatly labelled. When your range changes, you simply swap the sign.

Good to know about bookbinding board

Bookbinding board is traditionally used for book covers. For that, it has to be dense, dimensionally stable and flat. These same properties make it so pleasant to craft with. It takes paint and glue without warping much, and it keeps its shape. That's why it suits wedding, birthday and other decorations better than thin craft card.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Store the untreated board somewhere dry and protect it from constant moisture. That way it keeps its shape for a long time. If you varnish or seal it, the surface becomes even more durable.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint and glue things onto the board? Yes. The smooth, untreated surface can be painted, varnished, decorated and glued.

What is the hole for? The hole is at the top centre. You can thread ribbon, cord or string through it to hang or tie the square, without having to punch a hole yourself.

Which sizes are available? The width can be chosen from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps. You can order single pieces or sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.

Why are the edges brown? The squares are laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edges. They are a sign of the precise cut, not a defect.
