The invitations are out, but the garland is still missing. You need a blank that holds up instead of going soggy when you paint it. This cardboard square with rounded corners and two holes side by side is made for your craft idea. Thread a ribbon through, decorate it, hang it up – done. The plain cutout becomes your name card, gift tag or decoration for a wedding, birthday or party.

What changes for you

  • You can hang up your decorations straight away. The two holes side by side are already cut, so there is no punching or drilling to do.
  • Your design keeps its shape, even after painting or gluing. The 1.2 mm bookbinder's board is much firmer than ordinary craft card.
  • You can start decorating right away with paint, varnish, paper or decoupage. The smooth, untreated surface takes it all well.
  • You get exactly the size your project needs. Choose from 3 to 50 cm in width, in 1 cm steps.
  • You can craft with a clear conscience. The board is made from 100 % recycled material and comes from our own production at Bütic in Pößneck.

Why this cardboard square makes a difference in everyday crafting

A bunting for a birthday, name cards for the wedding table or small gift tags: with a ready-made blank you skip the tedious cutting and punching. And all the pieces look the same. The rounded corners make your decorations look soft and friendly, with no sharp edges. That leaves you more time for the part that matters: decorating.

Material & finish

The solid bookbinder's board weighs 755 g/m² and feels noticeably sturdy in your hand. You can glue, paint and varnish it without it quickly going wavy. The edges are cleanly laser cut and show the typical brown rim. It stands out against the smooth surface and gives a nice contrast when you decorate. The board is untreated, made from 100 % recycled material and produced in Thuringia.

How to use the cardboard square

  • Before the wedding: write a guest's name on each square and thread a ribbon through the two holes. Your place cards then hang neatly on a chair or glass.
  • For a birthday: thread several squares onto a string and paint a letter on each one. Above the table hangs a garland nobody else has.
  • On Valentine's Day or for an engagement: a small square, lovingly decorated, as a tag on your present. The wrapping alone says more than any shop-bought card.
  • In a café or at a market stall: write flavours and prices on the squares and hang them on the shelf or counter. Your display looks tidy and is quick to update at any time.
  • Crafting with children: the firm board copes with heavy brushstrokes. And the rounded corners make it comfortable to handle.

Good to know about bookbinding board

Bookbinder's board gets its name from its traditional use for book covers. There it has to keep its shape for years and must not warp when glued. You benefit from exactly this when crafting. Your painted or decorated squares keep their shape and still hang straight on the string after the party.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Store the untreated board somewhere dry and flat, and it will keep its shape for a long time. Avoid constant moisture. If you want to use your decorations outdoors, it's best to seal the surface with paint or varnish first.

Options & what's included

  • Width selectable from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps
  • Available individually or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100
  • The untreated cardboard cutout is supplied without ribbon and without decoration

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or glue things onto the board? Yes. The smooth, untreated surface is suitable for gluing, painting and varnishing. Thanks to its 1.2 mm thickness, the square keeps its shape.

What are the two holes for? Thread ribbon, cord or string through the holes side by side. Use them to hang single tags or to string several squares into a garland.

Is the board environmentally friendly? Yes. It is made from 100 % recycled material and produced in Thuringia.

Why are the edges brown? The squares are laser cut. This creates the typical brown edge. It is cleanly sealed and forms a natural contrast to the surface.

Think of the moment your guests spot the garland you made yourself. They ask where you got it. Just choose your size and quantity – and get started.
