The wedding is getting closer. The birthday is just around the corner. And you want to make your own signs, tags or a small guest book that turns out the way you imagine. This cardboard rectangle with rounded corners and 2 holes on the short side is made for exactly that. It is firm bookbinding board. You can paint it, decorate it and hang it up with ribbon or cord. That way, an idea in your head becomes a piece of decor you are proud to show.

What changes for you

  • You can start painting, decorating or writing straight away. The smooth surface of the 1.2 mm solid board takes paint, varnish and glue reliably.
  • Your tags and signs are ready to use right away. The two pre-cut holes on the short side let you thread through ribbon, cord or rings.
  • Your result looks neat and well thought out. The rounded corners and the laser-cut brown edges give the cutout a tidy finish.
  • You'll find the right size for every project. Choose a width from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You can craft with a clear conscience. The board is made from 100 % recycled material and is untreated.

Why this cardboard rectangle makes a difference in everyday use

Thin craft card creases easily. It warps when you paint it. And in the end it doesn't hold its shape as well as planned. With a sturdy cutout made from bookbinding board, your project feels different in your hand. It stays flat. You can work on it calmly. Later it hangs straight on the wall or on the present. The result is decor that people don't just look at but like to pick up.

Material & finish

The firm solid board in bookbinding quality weighs 755 g/m². That makes it noticeably sturdier than ordinary craft card. It doesn't warp as easily while you work, and it gives your designs a reliable base. The surface is smooth and untreated. So you can paint, varnish or decorate it however you like. Laser cutting creates the typical brown edges. They are a feature of this production method and give the cutout a natural, handmade look. Every rectangle comes from our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the cardboard rectangle

  • For a wedding: write names or good wishes on the rectangles and tie them to chairs or presents. That way every seat and every gift of money at the wedding has its own personal label.
  • For a birthday: hang a painted sign with birthday wishes on the door or above the table. The birthday girl or boy will know the moment they walk in that this day is special.
  • Crafting with children: the sturdy board copes even with heavy brushstrokes. And in the end a work of art hangs on a ribbon instead of ending up in the bin.
  • As a small album or guest book: join several rectangles through the two holes with rings or cord. And you have a handmade keepsake in your hands.
  • In a café, shop or at a market stall: labelled tags on shelves, baskets or the counter give your goods consistent, tidy labelling. They are quick to make and easy to swap at any time.

Good to know about bookbinding board

Bookbinding board is traditionally used for book covers. That is exactly where a material has to stay flat for years and cope with daily handling. This is also what makes it so pleasant for crafting. Your signs, tags and decorations keep their shape, even when they are often picked up or moved.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Store the rectangles in a dry place and keep them away from constant moisture. As untreated board, the material will otherwise absorb water. Stored and used dry, your craft pieces stay stable and look good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Can I paint or decorate the board? Yes. The smooth, untreated surface can be painted, varnished, coloured and glued.

What are the two holes for? You thread ribbon, cord or rings through the holes on the short side. Use them to hang the rectangles or to join several together.

How sturdy is the material? The solid board is 1.2 mm thick and weighs 755 g/m². It is much firmer than ordinary craft card and holds its shape accordingly.

Why are the edges brown? The rectangles are laser cut. The brown edges are a typical feature of this process and come with a clean cut.

Is the material sustainable? Yes. The bookbinding board is made from 100% recycled material and is produced in Thuringia.

A cardboard cutout is only the starting point. What counts is the moment your handmade tag hangs on the present and the recipient looks there first. Simply choose your width and the set size you need. Then get started.
