Why this cardboard spider makes a difference in everyday life
A single large spider in the window or a whole swarm of small spiders on the wall. That is enough to give your home a slightly spooky Halloween feel. Guests and children notice it straight away. Instead of colourful ready-made goods, you create decorations in your own style. Paint them matt black, cover them in glitter or keep the plain cardboard look. A few cutouts make up a Halloween display you can use again year after year.
Material & finish
The spider is lasered from 1.2 mm thick solid board in bookbinding quality. This gives it the typical brown edges and a clean, precise outline. The surface is smooth and untreated, so paint and glue stick well. The firm 755 g/m² board feels sturdy in your hand. It does not warp as quickly as thin card while you craft. Every spider is made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the cardboard spider
- Crafting with children: Every child gets their own spider to paint. At the end, a whole spider family hangs proudly in the children's room window.
- For a Halloween party: Place a large spider in a web on the door. Your guests will know as soon as they ring the bell that things are getting spooky tonight.
- For invitations and garlands: Use the cutout as a template. Or thread several small spiders onto a string. Your spooky garland for the buffet is ready.
- In a café or bakery: Spread a few spiders across the shop window and the counter. Your seasonal shop decoration is done in a few minutes, without a big budget.
- Beyond Halloween: The spider also suits themed birthdays and spooky evenings. It also works as a craft motif for the autumn half-term.
Good to know about spiders
Along with pumpkins and bats, spiders and spider webs are classic symbols of Halloween. They stand for the abandoned, slightly eerie feel of old buildings. That is why a single silhouette in the window is often enough to set the right mood. You do not need an elaborate backdrop.
Care & durability
There is not much you need to do. As the board is untreated, just protect the spider from wet and constant damp. Store it dry, for example flat in your decoration box. Then it is ready to use again next year.
