Why this cardboard Christmas elf makes a difference
Shop-bought Christmas decorations look the same everywhere. An elf you've decorated yourself is yours alone. It might be painted in bright colours by little hands or kept subtle in natural tones. Either way, you end up with something in your home that nobody else has. And because the shape is already done, all your time goes into decorating rather than preparing.
Material & finish
The Christmas elf is made of solid bookbinding board. It's the same material that gives book covers their strength. It feels good and firm in your hand. It doesn't warp as quickly as thin card when you work on it. You can glue things to it, paint it or varnish it. The edges are cleanly laser-cut. They show the brown rim that laser cutting creates. This is a sign of how it's made, not a flaw. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the Christmas elf
- Crafting with children: Each child gets their own elf to paint. At the end, a little parade of elves hangs in the window, and everyone is proud of it.
- Making Christmas cards: Stick small 5 or 6 cm elves onto your cards. Your Christmas post gets a lovely 3D touch.
- As gift tags: Write a name on it, drill a hole and thread a ribbon through. Now you can tell at a glance whose present is whose under the tree.
- As a large window figure: Paint a 40 or 50 cm elf and stand it in a shop window or your living room window. The Christmas spirit is visible from outside.
- In cafés, bakeries or at market stalls: With a set of 25 or 50 elves, you can decorate your counter and sales area in a matching style. Write on them quickly and use them as price tags or product labels too.
- In nurseries or schools: One set is enough for the whole group. Everyone gets the same shape, yet every elf turns out different.
Good to know about the Christmas elf
Christmas elves go back to the Scandinavian gnomes. In the stories, these little helpers protect house and farm. Before Christmas, they work hard in Santa's workshop. That's why the motif suits Advent so well. Use it alongside your Advent calendar, at the elf door in the children's room or as a figure in your Christmas window decorations.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Keep the elf dry, and the board will keep its shape for many Christmases. Avoid constant damp and wet. Untreated cardboard is for indoor use. After the holidays, simply lay it flat in a box. Next Advent, your decorations are ready to use again.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint and decorate the Christmas elf? Yes. The untreated, smooth surface can be glued, painted and varnished. It's ideal for acrylic paints, pens, glitter or paper.
Is the elf suitable for outdoor use? The cardboard is untreated and should stay dry. It's well suited to sheltered indoor use. It can't withstand constant damp.
How wide is the elf at the height I choose? The proportions stay the same. At 10 cm high, the elf is 6 cm wide. You can use this to work out the width for any other size.
Why are the edges brown? The elf is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edges. It's a normal feature of this precise cutting method.
Is the material sustainable? The bookbinder's board is made from 100% recycled material and is produced in Germany.
A cardboard cutout is only the beginning. What counts is the afternoon at the kitchen table, painting, gluing and laughing together. And the elves that keep you company through Advent afterwards. Just choose your size and quantity, and off you go.
