Why this cardboard Santa hat makes a difference in everyday life
Homemade Christmas decorations tell more of a story than shop-bought ones. Think of the hat your child painted red, or the set in the window in your family colours. The blank is already cut, so your crafting afternoon stays relaxed. You decorate instead of cutting. And in a shop or café, a row of matching hats above the counter creates a consistent seasonal look with little effort.
Material & finish
The hat is made from solid bookbinding-quality board at 755 g/m². It feels pleasantly sturdy in your hand. It doesn't warp as quickly as thin card when you paint it. The surface is smooth and untreated. You can stick things on it, paint it or varnish it. Laser cutting creates the characteristic brown edges, which give the shape a clean, clear outline. Every hat is made by Bütic in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

- As tree ornaments: several small hats of 5 to 10 cm spread across the Christmas tree – painted, decorated or left plain.
- In the window: one large hat in the centre, or several hung at different heights on branches. The Christmas spirit is visible from the street.
- Above the counter in a bakery or café: lined up in the right size, the hats make a seasonal decoration in just a few minutes. It needs no big set-up. After the holidays, it packs away flat.
- As place cards or gift tags at the Christmas party: write a name on it, put it at the place setting or tie it to a present. Every guest feels welcome before the meal even starts.
Good to know about the Santa hat
The red pointed hat has been part of the image of Father Christmas since the 19th century. It was shaped by well-known illustrations of that time. That's exactly why the motif works so reliably. Everyone recognises it at a glance – as a tree ornament at home, in a shop window or on a market stall during Advent.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Keep the untreated board dry and away from moisture. Then you can take your decorated hats out of the Christmas box again every year. Stored flat, they keep their shape and are ready to use again in seconds.
