Maybe you're planning wall decor for a child's room. Or a wedding guest book where every guest writes on their own piece. Or simply your next craft project at the kitchen table. For this you need a wooden cutout that already looks finished when you take it out of the box. This grey puzzle piece in birch plywood is made for ideas like these. It is painted on both sides, laser cut to exact size and available in your chosen size from 3 to 50 cm. You don't start with a raw board. You start straight away with the creative part.

What changes for you

  • You can get started right away, with no sanding or priming. Every puzzle piece is painted in colour on both sides. It is then sealed with a satin-matt, water-based clear varnish.
  • Your pieces fit your project exactly. You choose the height and width freely from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • Each piece you hold is one of a kind. The clear varnish lets the grain and small knots of the birch wood show through. No two pieces are the same.
  • Your edges are smooth and clean, because every piece is precisely laser cut. They are pleasant to hold, even for small hands when you craft together.
  • You save time and money on larger projects. You can order single pieces or sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.

Why this puzzle piece makes a difference every day

A puzzle piece stands for togetherness. It stands for the moment when things fit together and form a whole. That's why it never feels random, whether as wall decor, as a place card or as a labelled keepsake. It feels personal. The understated grey sits quietly in both modern and natural interiors. It keeps the focus on your design.

Material & finish

The puzzle piece is made of 3 mm birch plywood. In our own production in Pößneck, Bütic paints it grey on both sides. The clear, satin-matt, water-based varnish protects the surface. At the same time, it leaves the natural wood grain visible. This way the character of the material is preserved. Wood is a purely natural product. Differences in shade, fine textures and small knots are normal and not a defect. They are exactly what makes each piece unique. Laser cutting gives you accurate shapes and smooth edges in consistently clean quality.

How to use the puzzle piece

  • For a wedding or christening: every guest writes on one piece. The result is a guest book that later hangs framed on the wall instead of sitting in a cupboard.
  • In a child's room: decorate several pieces with names or motifs and arrange them as wall decor. It becomes a personal picture that grows with your child.
  • Crafting with children: you can stick things onto the smooth, pre-painted surfaces straight away or keep decorating them. No preparation, no rough edges.
  • In a café or at the market: use the grey wooden piece as a price tag or sign on the counter. It gives you a uniform, calm display. It's quick to label and quick to swap.
  • For team building or club life: each member decorates one piece. Together they form one big whole. It's a visible sign of togetherness in the office or clubhouse.

Good to know about puzzles

The first puzzles were made of wood in the 18th century. The London mapmaker John Spilsbury cut up maps to teach children geography. To this day, a single puzzle piece is a symbol that every part contributes to the bigger picture. That's why it is so popular for guest books, farewell gifts and group activities.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. If needed, simply wipe it with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid constant moisture. This keeps the varnish and wood looking good for a long time, with no effort at all.

Frequently asked questions

Is the puzzle piece painted on both sides? Yes. Every piece is painted grey on both sides. It is also sealed with a clear, satin-matt, water-based varnish. You can use both sides equally.

Do all puzzle pieces look exactly the same? The shape is accurate thanks to laser cutting, but the wood surface is not identical. Birch is a natural material with different shades, grain patterns and small knots. Every piece is one of a kind.

How do height and width relate to each other? Height and width are identical. For example, if you choose a height of 10 cm, the width is also 10 cm.

Can I order several pieces at once? Yes. As well as single pieces, there are sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100. They are ideal for guest books, group activities or larger decor projects.

This is about more than a piece of plywood. It's about the moment when many single pieces become something shared. On your wall, at your celebration or at the craft table. Simply choose the size and quantity that suit your idea.
