Material & finish

We make every puzzle piece in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, from 3 mm birch plywood. The pieces are laser cut. This gives smooth edges and a precise, clean finish that you can feel the first time you pick one up. We paint the raw boards in colour on both sides ourselves. The colourless, satin-matt water-based varnish lets the grain and knots show through. Wood is a purely natural material. It can be lighter or darker and shows small irregularities in its structure. That is what makes each piece a one-off, not a flaw.
