Material & finish

The square is made of 3 mm birch plywood and is laser-cut. This gives smooth, clean edges and accurate shapes that need no further finishing. We paint the raw boards scarlet on both sides ourselves, in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck. On top comes a clear, satin-matt water-based varnish. It leaves the natural wood grain visible. Small knots and differences in texture are not a flaw. They are the mark of a genuine natural material. That is exactly what makes each square unique.
