Material & finish

The ring binder board is made of 3 mm birch plywood. This makes it light in the hand and at the same time very sturdy and robust, even with daily use. Two coats of water-based clear varnish protect the coloured surface in everyday use. Every board is made in our own Bütic production in Pößneck, Thuringia, with careful workmanship. Wood is a natural material: brightness, grain and small knots can vary. That is what makes each piece one of a kind. The grain can run horizontally or vertically. Care & durability

There isn't much to do: when needed, simply wipe the varnished surface with a slightly damp cloth. Avoid constant moisture and harsh cleaners. That way the birch plywood keeps its strong purple colour and smooth surface for a long time.

Frequently asked questions

Which ring binder mechanism is fitted? It depends on the format: for A5 a 4-ring mechanism (ring spacing 45 x 65 x 45 mm), for A4 a 4-ring mechanism (80 x 80 x 80 mm) or a 2-ring mechanism (80 mm). Each has an inner diameter of 19.5 mm and a filling height of 11.5 mm.

Why does the grain sometimes run horizontally and sometimes vertically? We optimise our cutouts to avoid unnecessary waste. If you'd like a particular grain direction, just send us a short message before you order.

Is every board the same? No. Wood is a natural material with varying brightness, its own grain and occasional small knots. This is not a defect. It makes your board unique.
