Why this MDF robot makes a difference in everyday life
Shop-bought decorations look the same everywhere. A robot you design yourself tells your own story. Your child might paint it in bright colours. Or you might keep it subtle with a techy look for the shelf. The design works in a child's bedroom, on the birthday table or in your model-making project. You decide on the size and design yourself. So the result fits in exactly where you need it.
Material & finish
The robot is laser-cut from a 3 mm thick, high-density HDF/MDF fibreboard. This gives clean, smooth edges and a stable surface that is pleasant to work with. The natural surface takes paint, pens and glue well, with no primer needed. Good to know: pressed wood fibres always show different textures. Some fibres are lighter, some darker, and there may be small impurities now and then. This is not a defect. It makes every piece one of a kind. Every cutout is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the MDF robot
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own robot along the engraved lines. At the end of the party, they take home a keepsake they designed themselves.
- In a child's bedroom: a large robot on the shelf or wall completes the themed room.
- On the birthday table: small robots at every place as table scatter or name cards. Your guests have something to discover even before the cake.
- In model making and tech projects: you can cover the flat 3 mm cutout, paint it and build it into dioramas or craft projects.
- For nurseries, schools or holiday clubs: with sets from 10 pieces, you have identical blanks for the whole group. No cutting, no preparation.
Good to know about the robot
The word “robot” comes from the Czech “robota”, meaning work. It became known in 1920 through the play “R.U.R.” by Karel Čapek. Today the design is especially popular with children. That makes the cutout ideal for themed parties, craft afternoons and as decoration around technology topics.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store the untreated cutout in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture. This keeps the surface flat and your painted piece looking good for a long time. If you want to protect the robot permanently, you can paint or varnish it after decorating.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the robot straight away? Yes. The HDF is untreated, with no varnish or glaze. Paints, pens and glue stick directly to the surface.
How wide is the robot at my chosen height? The proportions stay the same: at a height of 10 cm, the width is 8 cm. From this you can work out the width for any other height.
Why do the cutouts look slightly different? HDF is made of pressed wood fibres. These can vary in shade and show small impurities. That is exactly what makes every piece unique.
Do I need to sand the edges? No. The robot is laser-cut, so it has smooth edges from the start.
What counts is the moment your child proudly holds up the robot they painted themselves. And you know this afternoon will be remembered. Simply choose your size and get started.
