That gives it smooth, accurate edges with the typical brown laser edge, which gives the heart a clear outline. The red paint on both sides is opaque but lets the wood grain show through. Wood is a natural material. Brightness, texture and small knots always vary a little. That makes every piece unique and is not a defect.
