The disc is made of 3mm birch plywood. We laser-cut it in our own production in Pößneck. This gives smooth edges and an accurate shape. We lacquer the raw boards dark blue on both sides ourselves. Then we seal them with a colourless, water-based satin clear varnish. The grain stays visible. Wood is a purely natural material. It varies in tone and sometimes has small knots. That's not a flaw – it's exactly what makes each disc unique.

Good to know about birch plywood

Plywood is made of several thin layers of wood glued crosswise. This makes the board much more stable than a solid wood board of the same thickness. That's why even a large 50cm disc stays flat at just 3mm thick. It is easy to hang, decorate and write on.

There's not much to do. Simply remove dust with a dry or slightly damp cloth. Avoid prolonged moisture. That way the colour and surface stay in good condition, and your decoration still looks fresh years later.
