Material & finish

The disc is made from 3 mm birch plywood. It is laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck, Bütic's home. This gives smooth edges and an accurate circle. We paint the raw sheets ourselves in teak on both sides. Then we seal them with a colourless, satin, water-based clear lacquer. This protects the surface and makes it feel smooth and even. The grain and small knots stay visible. Wood is a purely natural material. It isn't always flawless. Some pieces are lighter, some darker, with small irregularities in the structure. That's what makes every plywood disc unique, and it isn't a defect.

Are the edges cleanly finished? Yes. The discs are laser-cut. The edges are smooth and the cutout is accurate, so you don't need to sand them.

Why don't all the discs look exactly the same? Birch plywood is a natural material. Grain, brightness and small knots vary from disc to disc. The transparent clear lacquer deliberately leaves these structures visible. Every piece is unique.
