The first warm days are here, but the window still looks bare from winter. Add a few black wooden dragonflies to the glass, and suddenly spring is in the room. These laser-cut plywood dragonflies are light in the hand. You can hang them up, stick them on or paint them. They are made for your spring decorations. Use them on their own or as a set for table scatter. You decide how much lightness you bring into your home.

What changes for you

  • Your window, wreath or coffee table gets a spring motif. The dragonfly comes ready cut, so all you have to do is place it.
  • You will find exactly the right size for your project. The wingspan can be chosen from 3 cm to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
  • You can start crafting, decorating or painting straight away. The back is left natural and takes paint and glue well.
  • Your decorations look planned rather than thrown together. All dragonflies are laser-cut to size and sit neatly side by side with smooth edges.
  • You save yourself sawing them out by hand. With sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces, that saves you a lot of time.

Why this wooden dragonfly makes a difference every day

Put a single dragonfly in the window and a few small ones on the table as scatter pieces. The room instantly feels livelier without looking cluttered. The matt black stands out calmly against light surfaces. It suits almost any interior style. Instead of searching for decorating ideas for ages, you have a motif that speaks for itself. You can combine it in new ways every year.

Material & finish

Each dragonfly is laser-cut from 3 mm thick plywood in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. The laser cut gives smooth edges and precise contours. It also leaves the typical brown edge that gives the motifs their handcrafted look. The black stain on the front is applied with care. Depending on the light, the wood grain and small knots still show through. The back stays natural and untreated. This is ideal if you want to stick things on it or design it yourself. Wood is a purely natural material. Shade, grain and small knots differ from piece to piece. This makes every dragonfly one of a kind, not faulty.

How to use the wooden dragonfly

  • In the window in spring: Place a few dragonflies in different sizes on the glass. As you walk past, they seem to float through the room.
  • On the coffee table: Scatter small dragonflies between plates and napkins. Your guests will spot the details before the cake is even on the table.
  • Crafting with children: Let them paint the natural back. Every child designs their own dragonfly, and you have an activity that needs very little setting up.
  • On a wreath or table arrangement: Attach a dragonfly between twigs and flowers. The arrangement gets a central motif that instantly says spring.
  • In a shop window or on the counter: Arrange several sizes into a floating group. Your seasonal display is quick to set up and looks consistent across the whole window.
  • For cards and money gifts: Stick on a small dragonfly. A plain card becomes a greeting with a detail you can feel.

Good to know about the dragonfly

In many cultures, the dragonfly stands for lightness and change. In Japan, it is even a traditional symbol of luck. So the motif is not only for spring and summer decorations in the window. It also works for greeting cards, garden parties and small gifts that mark a new beginning.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do. Store the dragonflies somewhere dry and simply dust them when needed. Avoid constant moisture, as the back is untreated. This way, the cutouts keep their shape and colour for many seasons.

Frequently asked questions

Is the dragonfly black on both sides? No, only the front is stained. The back is natural and untreated. This is handy for sticking it on or for your own designs.

Can I paint the dragonfly myself? Yes. The untreated back is especially good for painting and decorating, including when crafting with children.

Why does the dragonfly have a brown edge? The cutouts are laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge. It is part of the process and also gives smooth, precise contours.

Do all dragonflies look exactly the same? The shape is laser-cut to size, but the wood is a natural material. Grain, shade and small knots vary. Depending on the light, they may show through the black stain. Every piece is one of a kind.

How big is the dragonfly overall? The size you choose refers to the wingspan. With a 10 cm wingspan, the height is also 10 cm.

Picture the moment the light falls through the window. The dragonflies float on the glass, and spring has already arrived indoors. Simply choose your size and quantity. The motif does the rest.
