Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The Advent wreath is ready, but the windows are still waiting for decorations. You're looking for a shape you can design just the way you like. A four-pointed HDF star is ideal for this. It has a clear, simple outline. It comes untreated and ready for paint, decoupage or glitter. That way, a plain cutout becomes exactly the decoration that suits your home.
What changes for you
- You make your own decorations instead of buying them ready-made. The 4-point star is unfinished, so it takes paint, varnish, oil and glue with no trouble.
- You get exactly the size you need. From small table scatter to a large wall star, choose from 3 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- You can start crafting straight away, with no sanding. The laser cut leaves the edges smooth and clean.
- You can combine several sizes. The clear four-point shape looks calm and tidy on its own and in a group.
- You can also use the star as a template. The precise laser-cut outline is easy to trace neatly.
Why this 4-point star makes a difference in everyday life
Decorations you make yourself feel different from shop-bought ones. They tell a story about you. Perhaps a craft afternoon with the children or a quiet hour at the kitchen table. A four-point star has a clear, understated shape. It doesn't push itself forward, whether on the window, on a present or on the wall. Step by step, you create decorations that truly belong in your home.
Material & finish
The star is made from 3 mm thick HDF. This wood-based material has an even, fine surface. It's easy to paint and to stick things onto, and it doesn't splinter. Laser cutting leaves the typical brown edge, which gives the cutout a handmade look. The material is left natural. It is neither varnished nor glazed, so you decide on the finish yourself. Every star is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. Wood is a natural material, so slight differences in grain and shade can occur. That makes each piece one of a kind. HDF is a fibreboard like MDF, only more densely compressed. This makes it harder, and it stays stable even when thin.

How to use the MDF star
- At a craft afternoon in Advent: the children paint small stars for the Christmas tree. Every year, one more memory hangs on the branches.
- When wrapping presents: tie a small 4-point star to the ribbon instead of a shop-bought bow. The parcel feels personal before it is even opened.
- On the wall or window: a large star up to 50 cm, painted in your chosen colour, draws attention in winter.
- As a template: trace the outline onto paper or a wall. You can repeat the motif as often as you like, always with a clean shape.
- In a café, shop or market stall: several stars in graduated sizes in the window or above the counter. A seasonal decoration that is quick to put up and can be reused every year.
Good to know about the four-point star
In Christian art, the four-point star is closely linked to the Star of Bethlehem. Its shape is reminiscent of a cross. That is why this cutout suits Advent and Christmas especially well. It also works for baptisms or Communion – wherever the motif can mean more than decoration.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Simply wipe off dust with a dry cloth. The material is unfinished, so protect the star from lasting moisture. If you want to use it outdoors or in damp rooms, seal the surface first with varnish or oil. This keeps the shape clean and stable for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the star or stick things onto it? Yes. The HDF is untreated and takes acrylic paint, varnish, oil and glue well. No sanding needed beforehand.
Why are the edges brown? The star is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown edge. It is a sign of laser cutting, and many people use it deliberately as a design feature.
Is the star suitable for outdoors? Unfinished, it is meant for indoor use. With an opaque coat of paint or a sealant, you can also use it outdoors in a sheltered spot.
Do all stars look exactly the same? The laser cut makes the shape precise. Wood is a natural material, so texture and shade can vary slightly. That makes every piece unique.
A MDF cutout is just the start. What counts is the afternoon when a plain shape becomes your own decoration. And the moment it hangs in the window for the first time. Simply choose your size and get started.
