They feel good to the touch and can be painted without any finishing. The board is left natural. It is not varnished or glazed. So everything you apply adheres reliably. HDF is a pressed wood-based material. It shows fibres in lighter and darker shades and may have small irregularities. This is not a defect. It makes every piece unique.
