Why this Dala horse makes a difference every day
A handful of small horses on the festive table, a large one in the window – and the room takes on that calm Nordic cosiness you usually only see in coffee-table books. The burgundy shade goes with fir, linen and candlelight just as well as with light wood. So the motif blends in rather than standing out. The arrangement comes together without much effort on your part.
Material & finish
The horse is laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. The laser cut gives smooth, accurate edges and the typical fine browned rim. This rim adds extra outline to the motif. The wine red stain is opaque, yet lively. Depending on the light, the wood grain and small knots show through. Wood is a natural material, and these very structures make each piece unique. The front is stained. The back is left natural and untreated – ideal if you want to decorate it yourself.

- At Christmas dinner: scatter small sizes between plates and candles as table scatter. The table looks festive before the first course is served.
- In the window: hang a large horse on a ribbon. Even from the street, a warm spot of colour greets passers-by in the dark season.
- Christmas crafts with children: let them paint or write on the natural back. Every child takes their own horse home.
- For Christmas cards and money gifts: stick on or tie on a small horse. A simple card becomes a greeting people keep.
- In a café, a bakery or at a market stall: arrange several sizes on the counter or in the shop window. The sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces make seasonal decorating quick and consistent.
Good to know about the Dala horse
The Dala horse comes from the Swedish region of Dalarna. It has been carved there as a wooden horse for centuries. Today it is one of the best-known symbols of Sweden. That is why the motif suits Scandinavian-inspired Christmas decorations and hygge home ideas. It also makes a small gift for anyone who loves the North.
Care & durability
There's not much to do: just dust it with a dry cloth when needed. As the back is untreated, it's best to store the horse somewhere dry. Keep it away from constant moisture. That way, the burgundy shade stays as rich as on the first day.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Dala horse suitable for crafting with children? Yes. The stain meets the requirements of DIN EN 71-3.
Can I paint the horse myself? Yes. The back is natural and untreated. It is easy to paint, decorate with stickers or write on.
Why does the edge have a brown rim? The horse is laser-cut. The fine brown rim is typical of laser cutting and adds extra outline to the silhouette.
Does every horse look the same? Thanks to laser cutting, the shape and dimensions are accurate. Wood is a natural material, so the grain and small knots may show through the stain depending on the light. Every piece is unique.
