Every character is laser-cut from dark real wood veneer in our own production in Pößneck. Laser cutting creates the typical brown edge that finely traces the outlines. Wood is a purely natural material. Shade and grain always vary a little, and small knots may occur. This makes every character unique and is not a flaw. The edges stay clean and the shapes precise, even on small symbols.

The word veneer comes from the French "fournir", meaning to supply or furnish. For centuries it has meant thin sheets of real wood that joiners use to finish furniture. This low thickness is your advantage here. The characters are light and need only a little glue. And they still show real wood grain instead of printed film.

Care & durability

There isn't much you need to do. Indoors, the characters stay looking good just as they are. The wood comes untreated in its natural form. So avoid constant moisture. Or paint or oil the characters as you like if you want to protect the surface further.
