Each character is made of dark real wood veneer just 0.6 mm thick. This means it lies flat against the wall and is easy to work with. Laser cutting gives exact edges and the characteristic brown rim, which brings out the shape even more. All numbers and special characters are made in Bütic's own production in Pößneck. Wood is a purely natural material. Colour and grain always vary a little, and small knots are normal. This makes every character one of a kind.

Care & durability

Can I paint or oil the characters? Yes. The veneer is untreated. You can cover it, paint it or oil it to suit your interior style.

How do I attach the numbers? You can glue or drill the characters. At just 0.6 mm thick, they lie flat against the wall.

Why are the full stop and comma so small? Small special characters are made to the same scale as in the font. This way they match the numbers typographically. But they turn out much smaller than the height you choose.
