Thuringia Schwibbogen – Pößneck skyline with LED

It gets dark early outside, the first candle is lit indoors – and the window is still missing that warm glow that tells you Advent is here. The Pößneck Schwibbogen brings exactly that: a finely laser-cut town silhouette in birch wood, softly lit by an LED light strip – as if made for your windowsill. With the town centre, town wall, Powder Tower and bell tower, you bring a little piece of Pößneck into your home.

What changes for you

• Your window glows invitingly every evening, without you having to light or keep an eye on candles – thanks to the LED light strip.
• You adjust the brightness to suit your room – with the dimmable USB version, just as the mood takes you.
• No need to remember to switch it off at night – the version with switch and plug connects easily to a timer.
• Your candle arch stands securely and straight – because the base is made from lacquered beech wood.
• You'll recognise real details – the silhouette was recreated from current photos of Pößneck town centre.

Why this Schwibbogen makes a difference every day

A candle arch changes the mood in a room as soon as dusk falls. The warm light behind the delicate silhouette feels calm and cosy, with no effort at all. Instead of lots of separate decorations, one candle arch in the window is enough. Then Advent has arrived at home. And if you know Pößneck, you'll keep spotting familiar corners as you look at it – from the Pulverturm to the bell tower.

Material & finish

The silhouette is laser-engraved and laser-cut from birch plywood. This gives smooth edges and fine, precise details that a saw couldn't achieve. The wood is left untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. It shows its natural, light grain. As it is a natural product, every piece is unique. The base in varnished beech gives the arch a stable stand. Each candle arch is neatly made in our own production at Bütic GmbH in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use your Schwibbogen

• On the living room windowsill: switch on the light, and the Pößneck skyline sends a warm greeting outside – a familiar sight for neighbours and passers-by.
• As a gift for those who've moved away: anyone who has left Pößneck can put a little piece of home on the table at Christmas with this Schwibbogen.
• On the sideboard during Advent: add a few fir sprigs and you have a Christmas corner set up in minutes – no elaborate decorating needed.
• In the window of a shop, café or bakery: the Christmas candle arch creates a local connection, is quick to set up and, with the timer version, comes on reliably by itself every evening.

Good to know about the Schwibbogen

The Schwibbogen comes from the mining tradition of the Ore Mountains: its arch of lights symbolised the miners' longing for daylight, which they barely saw during winter. To this day it stands for the light in the window that shows the way home – a lovely thought for your own windowsill, and for a gift to people with a strong bond to their home town.

Care & durability

There's not much you need to do: an occasional dry dusting is enough. As the birch wood is untreated, you should avoid moisture – then your Schwibbogen will keep its light, natural look for many Advent seasons to come.
