Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.A name on the bedroom door, a saying above the coat rack or your shop name on the window: with wooden letters in Comic Sans, you build your text letter by letter, exactly as you picture it. The round, friendly shapes of this font seem made for children's rooms and family hallways. And because every letter is self-adhesive, your lettering is on the wall faster than you could mix up a pot of paint.
What changes for you
- You design your own lettering freely, because you order each letter individually. Choose upper or lower case.
- You put up your text without drilling or tools. The back has clear 3M transfer tape with strong adhesion.
- Your lettering can match your interior. The untreated front can be covered, painted or oiled.
- You'll find the right size for almost any spot. Choose from four heights between 5 and 20 cm.
- You get neatly made letters with a finely drawn outline. They are laser-cut in Bütic's own production in Pößneck.
Why these wooden letters make a difference in everyday life
A printed sticker stays flat. A wooden letter has depth, texture and a surface you like to touch. Your name on the door or your motto on the wall becomes something tangible and personal. And because every character is separate, you decide the spacing and layout. You arrange them to suit your wall, your shop window or your counter.
Material & finish
The letters are made of 3 mm poplar plywood and are laser-cut. That is why they have the typical brown edge, which gives each character a clear outline. The front is left untreated. You can paint, oil or cover it as you like. The back has clear 3M transfer tape with strong adhesion. Wood is a natural material. Shade, grain and small knots vary slightly from letter to letter. This is not a flaw. It is what makes each piece unique. Everything is made in our own production in Pößneck.
Dimensions & technical details
- Material: poplar plywood, thickness 3 mm
- Font: Comic Sans, available in upper and lower case
- Choice of height: 5 cm, 10 cm, 15 cm or 20 cm
- The chosen height refers to the capital letters. Lower-case letters are made to the same scale and are therefore shorter
- Example from the Arial font at 10 cm: capital O 10 cm, lower-case a 7.3 cm, lower-case h 9.7 cm. The lower-case g measures 10 cm but reaches about 2.6 cm below the baseline. In script fonts, lower-case letters are often slightly smaller still
- Back: 3M transfer tape, clear, with strong adhesion
- Each letter supplied individually. The characters can be stuck on or drilled, and also used freely as decoration
- Laser-cut with the typical brown edge, made in our own production
How to use the wooden letters
- In the children's room: your child's name on the door. Now the little one has a room that is visibly their own.
- Around the home: a short word like “Willkommen” in the hallway. Your guests feel expected the moment they arrive.
- In a shop or café: label offers and notices on the window or counter. Stuck on in minutes, tidy results, and easy to add to at any time.
- For celebrations: arrange names or a date for a christening, birthday or wedding. Your decorations become personal without any crafting.
- For creative projects: paint or oil the letters before sticking them on. This way you match the colour of your lettering to your walls and furniture.
- Our ordering tip: For one word, order all letters in the same size, even if it starts with a capital. That way the upper and lower-case letters fit together exactly.
Good to know about Comic Sans
The Comic Sans font was designed in 1994 by Vincent Connare for Microsoft. It is based on the hand lettering of classic comics. These playful, round shapes are exactly what make it so likeable as wooden lettering. It suits children's rooms, play corners, nurseries and anywhere a text should feel friendly rather than strict.
Care & durability
There's not much to do. An occasional dry dusting keeps your lettering looking cared for over time. Keep the wood away from constant moisture. If you paint or oil the front, you also give the surface a look of its own.
Options & what's included
- Four heights to choose from: 5 cm, 10 cm, 15 cm and 20 cm (based on the capital letters)
- Upper and lower-case letters available individually. You put your text together letter by letter
- Each letter is supplied individually, with adhesive tape already on the back
Frequently asked questions
Why are the lower-case letters shorter than the chosen size? The chosen height applies to the capital letters. Lower-case letters are made to the same scale, as the font dictates. So order all letters of a word in the same size to keep the lettering consistent.
Can I paint or oil the letters? Yes. The front is untreated and can be painted, oiled or covered. This lets you match the lettering to your interior.
Where does the brown edge come from? The letters are laser-cut. The brown edge forms during cutting and is typical of this production method.
Do I have to stick the letters on? No. You can also drill the characters and screw them on. This helps if the surface isn't suitable for adhesive.
Plywood and adhesive tape are just the materials. This is about the moment your child discovers their name on their own door. Or the moment your chosen word sits on the wall exactly where you pictured it. Simply choose the size and letters and put your lettering together.
