Acrylic glass became known in the 1930s under the brand name PLEXIGLAS^®. It is much lighter than traditional glass and far less prone to breaking. That is exactly why it works so well for lettering. Why is my full stop or comma smaller than ordered? Small symbols are made to the same scale as they appear in the font. The height you choose applies to the numbers. A full stop is smaller accordingly, so the lettering stays consistent.
