The characters are made of approx. 3 mm thick PLEXIGLAS^® and are laser-cut. This gives clean, even edges you can see and feel. Bütic makes them in our own production in Pößneck. So every number and every character is made to the same consistent standard.

• Important: the height you choose refers to the numbers. Small special characters such as a full stop or comma are made to the font's scale. That's why they are much smaller. In Arial, for example, a full stop at a number height of 10 cm is only approx. 1.4 cm.

Good to know about PLEXIGLAS^®

PLEXIGLAS^® was developed in Germany in the 1930s. It is much lighter than ordinary glass and far more resistant to breakage. That's exactly what makes it so suitable for numbers and lettering. The characters are easy to glue or drill. They also stay put on walls where heavy material wouldn't be a good idea.

Are the characters supplied individually? Yes, each number and each special character is a separate item. So you order exactly the characters you need for your date or lettering.

Why are the full stop and comma smaller than the size I chose? Small special characters are made to the same scale as they are designed in the font. So for a date or a sentence, order all characters in the same size. Then they will match.

How do I attach the characters? You can glue or drill them. It depends on whether you want to fix them permanently or take them down again later.

Are the characters available in other colours? Yes. As well as green and yellow, we offer them in black, white, light grey, cream, orange, red, light blue and dark blue. Matching acrylic letters are available too.
