Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. The decorations for the practice party are ready. Only the reception desk still needs a fitting symbol. Or you're looking for a motif to give your craft group a medical theme. This wooden rod of Asclepius is made for exactly that. It's a cleanly laser-cut cutout, also known as a wooden snake staff. You can paint it, decorate it or simply stand it up in its natural state. A plain shape becomes a decoration on the theme of medicine, doctor's surgery or pharmacy.
What changes for you
- You design the motif just the way you want. The wood is untreated, so you can paint, oil, cover or stick things onto it.
- Your decorations look consistent. Every cutout is laser-cut and has smooth edges with the typical fine brown rim.
- You get exactly the size you need, with no compromises. The height can be chosen from 5 to 50 cm in 1 cm steps.
- Kitting out larger projects is easy too – buy them singly or in sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100.
- You are holding a piece of honest craftsmanship. It is made in our own production at Bütic in Pößneck, Thuringia.
Why this Rod of Asclepius makes a difference
A ready-made motif saves you the hardest part of the work. Instead of sawing or cutting it out yourself, you go straight to the fun part: designing it. The symbol is understood at a glance. Your decorations instantly have a clear link to medicine. And because wood is a natural material, the snake staff blends quietly into the room without being intrusive.
Material & finish
The cutout is made from 3 mm poplar plywood. It is light enough for hanging and decorating, yet keeps its shape. The laser cut leaves the edges smooth and clean, so you can start crafting straight away. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. Paints, oils and glue adhere well, and the natural surface stays visible. As a purely natural material, every piece has its own shade, fine patterns in the grain and occasionally small knots. This is not a flaw. It makes every rod of Asclepius one of a kind.

Facts about the Rod of Asclepius
The staff with a snake coiled around it goes back to Asclepius, the god of healing in Greek mythology. To this day it is a worldwide symbol of medicine and pharmacy. That's why the motif suits anything to do with the healthcare professions. From graduation parties and practice openings to decorations in the pharmacy.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Keep the cutout dry and avoid constant moisture. Then the untreated poplar plywood will keep its shape and natural look for a long time. If you paint or oil the motif, you give the surface extra protection.

Frequently asked questions
Is the wood already treated? No, the cutout is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. You can paint, decorate, coat or oil it straight away.
Why are the edges brown? The rod of Asclepius is laser-cut. This creates smooth, clean edges with the typical brown rim, a feature of laser cutting.
How wide is the cutout? The width depends on the height you choose. For reference: at a height of 10 cm, the width is 3 cm.
Does every piece look the same? The shape is always identical. Wood as a natural material is not. Shade, grain and small knots vary, so every piece is one of a kind.
A wooden cutout is only the starting point. What counts is the moment your own design does exactly what you imagined: at reception, on the gift or at the craft table. Just choose your size and quantity, and get started.
