Why this wooden cutout makes a difference in everyday life
A state outline you've decorated yourself says more than any shop-bought decoration. It shows that someone thought of the recipient and their home region. On the wall, on a present or as a small keepsake, the familiar outline is instantly recognisable and brings people together. And because you decide on the size and design yourself, the result suits your occasion exactly.
Material & finish
The cutout is made from 3 mm poplar plywood and laser-cut in our own production in Pößneck. That's where the smooth edges with the characteristic brown rim come from. They give the outline a clear contour. The wood is left natural, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint it, oil it or stick things on it, just as your project needs. Wood is a purely natural material. Colour and grain vary, and small knots may appear. This makes every piece one of a kind.

How to use the Baden-Württemberg cutout
- For money gifts: Stick notes or coins onto the outline. A move to the "Ländle" or a birthday then gets a gift with a clear connection instead of a plain envelope.
- In the classroom: Each child decorates their own map. Geography becomes a hands-on project.
- As wall decor: Paint the outline in your home's colours and hang it in the hallway. Guests will see at a glance where your heart is at home.
- As a small tag: At 5 cm high, the outline becomes a little extra on a present. It's a lasting keepsake of home.
- In a shop, café or at the weekly market: Use it as a labelled sign for regional products to show where they come from at a glance. It looks tidy and is quick to set up.
Good to know about Baden-Württemberg
Baden-Württemberg was only formed in 1952, from the merger of Baden, Württemberg-Baden and Württemberg-Hohenzollern. This makes it the only German federal state founded by a referendum. That's exactly why the outline is part of many people's identity. It makes a gift for those who have moved away, for newcomers, or for anyone who wants to give their "Ländle" a permanent place on the wall.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Stored dry, the untreated plywood keeps its shape and looks good for a long time. Avoid constant moisture. If you'd like to make the cutout more resistant, simply paint, glaze or oil it.

Frequently asked questions
Is the wood treated? No, the cutout is left natural – neither varnished nor glazed. You can paint, decorate, coat or oil it straight away.
Why does the edge have a brown rim? The outline is laser-cut. This creates the typical brown rim, which also emphasises the contour. It's not a flaw but a feature of laser cutting.
How wide is the cutout at my chosen height? As a guide: at a height of 10 cm, the width is 8.5 cm. The width increases in proportion to the height you choose.
Do all cutouts look the same? The shape is identical, the wood isn't: as a natural material, it varies in brightness and grain, and small knots are possible. Every piece is unique.
What counts is the moment when someone holds the familiar outline and thinks of home straight away. Simply choose your height and quantity, and give your idea a shape.
