Why this wooden dino makes a difference in everyday life
A craft afternoon is easier when the material already has a shape. Instead of starting from scratch, you give the children a ready-made dino silhouette. Each child turns it into their own piece. As decoration, the Stegosaurus looks calm and understated in plain wood. Use it in a child's bedroom, on the birthday table or as part of a themed project at nursery or primary school. A simple wooden figure becomes something you do together.
Material & finish
The Stegosaurus is laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. This gives it the typical brown edge that defines its outline. The edges are smooth and the finish is clean. You can feel it when you touch it and see it in the even cut. The top shows the laser-scored outline with a face. The underside is left natural. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. That's why it takes paint, glue and oil well. Wood is a natural material, so every figure turns out a little different. Each one varies in shade and grain and may have small knots. This isn't a flaw. It's exactly what makes every piece unique. The dino is made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the wooden Stegosaurus
- At a children's party: Every child paints their own dino. At the end, they take home a keepsake they made themselves instead of a shop-bought trinket.
- In a child's bedroom: A large Stegosaurus on the wall or shelf. The dino theme carries through the room.
- At nursery and primary school: A craft project for the whole group. With sets of up to 100, there's enough for everyone, and you don't need to reorder piece by piece.
- On the gift table: Small dinos as table scatter or tied to the ribbon. The parcel shows from the outside that it's for a dino fan.
- In a shop or café: Painted figures in the window or on the counter for a children's activity. Quick to set up and easy for little guests to spot.
Good to know about the Stegosaurus
The name Stegosaurus means "roof lizard". It's named after the striking bony plates on its back. These plates make its silhouette so distinctive. Even the unpainted wooden cutout is instantly recognised as a dino. When painting, the plates are many children's favourite detail.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. As the wood is untreated, it's best to keep the figure dry and away from constant moisture. If you want to use it long term, you can paint or oil it. This keeps the surface looking good for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the Stegosaurus straight away? Yes. The plywood is left natural. You can paint, decorate, varnish or oil it without any pre-treatment.
Is the wood treated? No, the cutout is untreated – neither varnished nor glazed. This means paint and glue stick reliably.
Do all figures look the same? The shape is always identical, but the wood isn't. As a natural material, it varies in shade and grain. Small knots are normal. This makes every figure unique.
How do width and height relate? The proportions stay the same. At 10 cm wide, the dino is 6 cm tall.
Where is the figure made? In our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. It's cleanly laser-cut with smooth edges.
What counts is the moment a child proudly holds up the dino they painted themselves. That's when you know the afternoon was a success. Just choose your size and quantity. Imagination does the rest.
