Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong. It's New Year's Eve and your guests will arrive any minute. At every place setting there's a little wooden pig with wings, painted by you. The flying pig made of 3mm poplar plywood is a blank for crafting, painting and decorating. It's just right for your next craft idea. The plain cutout becomes a lucky charm, a gift tag or a small decoration that you design yourself.
What changes for you
- You can start straight away without any preparation. The wood is untreated, so you can paint, decorate, coat or oil it directly.
- Your motif looks finished even before you start designing. The contour scoring marks out the pig's face and lines in fine detail.
- You can craft with children in a relaxed way. The edges are laser cut and smooth, with no finishing or sanding needed.
- You get exactly the size that suits your project. Choose from 5cm to 50cm wide, in 1cm steps.
- You can also cater for bigger groups, such as a children's birthday party or a New Year's Eve party. Sets of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces are available.
Why this wooden pig makes a difference every day
A flying wooden pig brings a lightness to your decorations that shop-bought items rarely have. That's because you design it yourself. Use it as a lucky pig on a glass of bubbly, as a tag on a present or as a motif in the window. The natural material looks honest and unpretentious. Every painted piece shows your own hand. A simple cutout becomes a small gift that family and friends will really enjoy.
Material & finish
The wooden pig is laser cut in our own production in Pößneck. This gives it the typical brown edge that outlines the motif. The top shows the scored contour lines. The underside is left natural. So you have one designed side and one blank side. The poplar plywood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed, so it takes paint well. Wood is a purely natural material. Different shades, fine structures in the grain and small knots are normal and make every piece unique. They're not a flaw but part of its character.

How to use the flying pig
- For New Year's Eve and New Year: put a painted lucky pig on each guest's plate. Everyone has their lucky charm in hand before midnight.
- Crafting with children: each child decorates their own flying pig with paint and glitter. At the end, they proudly take home a keepsake they made themselves.
- For gifts of money: stick the note to the pig or hang both together on a bottle. A plain gift becomes a personal surprise.
- As decoration in the window or on a branch: hang up a few pigs in different sizes. Your home looks playful and loving.
- For shops, cafés or market stalls: with a set of 25, 50 or 100 pieces, you can make customer gifts or counter decorations for the New Year. They're uniform, quick to prepare and can carry your own motif or text.
Good to know about the lucky pig
In German-speaking countries, the pig has been a symbol of luck for centuries. The saying “Schwein gehabt” (literally "had a pig", meaning "lucky you") still reminds people of this today. That's why lucky pigs are traditionally given as gifts at New Year. The wooden blank follows this tradition: you design your own lucky charm instead of buying a ready-made one.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. As the wood is untreated, it's best to store it somewhere dry and avoid constant moisture. If you paint or oil the pig, you give the surface extra protection. Your motif then stays the way you designed it for a long time.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the wooden pig straight away? Yes. The poplar plywood is untreated. You can paint, decorate, glue, coat or oil it without any preparation.
Are both sides designed? No. The top has the contour scoring with face and lines. The underside is left natural and ready for your own design.
Why is the edge brown? The pig is laser cut. The brown edge comes from this process and is typical of the look. The edges are smooth.
Does every pig look the same? The shape is identical, but the wood isn't. As a natural material, it shows different shades, fine grain and small knots. Every piece is unique.
Which size suits my project? As a guide: at 10cm wide, the pig is also 10cm high. Small widths from 5cm work well for tags. The larger sizes up to 50cm suit window or wall decorations.
