Why this wooden cutout makes a difference in everyday life
A ready-cut motif takes care of the most time-consuming part of the preparation. You don't need to draw, saw or sand anything. You can focus entirely on decorating. When crafting with children, this means less waiting and more time together at the table. And in the end, a self-painted armadillo hangs on the door sign or garland. Made by little hands, with visible pride.
Material & finish
The armadillo is laser-cut from 3 mm poplar plywood in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia. The laser cut gives smooth, clean edges. It also leaves the typical brown edge, which gives the motif a fine outline. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint it, decorate it with stickers or oil it as you like. As a natural material, each piece has its own shade, small differences in the grain or the occasional knot. This is not a flaw. It makes your armadillo one of a kind.

How to use the armadillo
- Crafting with children: each child paints their own armadillo. At the end of the afternoon, everyone takes a small work of art home.
- At nursery or school: several cutouts become a zoo animal garland for the group room. Quick to hang up and admired for a long time.
- On the nursery door: a painted armadillo with a name becomes a door sign. Your child will recognise their door from a distance.
- Above the changing table or bed: several small sizes on a mobile. The animal motif sways gently in the breeze.
- In a shop or café with an animal or zoo theme: painted motifs in the window display need little setting up. You can redecorate them for each season.
Facts about the armadillo
The armadillo gets its German name from the movable bands of armour that wrap around its body like belts. In Spanish it is called “Armadillo”, the little armoured one. This banded silhouette makes the cutout so rewarding to decorate. The motif stays instantly recognisable even unpainted. It invites you to trace the armour rings in bright colours.
Care & durability
There isn't much you need to do. Store the untreated wood in a dry place and keep it away from constant moisture. Then it will keep its natural look for a long time. If you paint or oil it, you protect the surface further and give it your own look.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the armadillo or stick things on it? Yes. The wood is untreated and can be painted, decorated with stickers or oiled. Ideal for crafting and personalising.
Why does the cutout have a brown edge? The armadillo is laser-cut. The brown edge is typical of laser cutting. The laser also gives smooth, clean edges.
Does every piece look the same? The shape is identical, the wood is not. As a natural material, it shows different shades, grain patterns and sometimes small knots. Every piece is one of a kind.
Is the motif suitable for larger groups? Yes. You can order the cutout individually or in a set of 10, 25, 50 or 100 pieces. So there is enough for a nursery group or a school class.
What counts is more than a piece of plywood. It is the moment a self-painted armadillo is proudly hung on the door. And everyone gets to see what was made. Simply choose your size and quantity. You design the rest.
