Not sure which to choose? With a Bütic gift voucher you can never get it wrong.Outside, the leaves are falling. Inside, the paintbox is ready. And this Halloween, you want decorations on the table that don't look like plastic. These wooden Halloween haunted houses are untreated plywood cutouts. You paint and decorate them just the way you like. They are made for your October craft afternoon. The plain cutout becomes your own haunted house for the windowsill, the sideboard or the party table.
What changes for you
- You make your own Halloween decorations instead of buying them off the shelf. The plywood is untreated, so it takes paint, glue or oil easily.
- You'll find the right size for every spot, from a small windowsill house to a large display piece. Heights range from 10 cm to 50 cm in 5 cm steps.
- Crafting with children is more relaxed. The laser-cut edges are smooth, so there's no need to sand them.
- You can put together your own ghost town. There are 7 different versions. You can order each one singly and mix them as you like.
- Your decorations have their own look from the start. The typical brown laser edge finely traces the outline of each house.
Why these haunted houses make a difference
Shop-bought Halloween decorations often look the same everywhere. A haunted house you have designed yourself tells your story. The colours your children picked. The window that came out a little crooked. The afternoon you spent together. These are decorations you'll take out of the box again every year. And each time they'll bring a smile, before the first guest rings the bell.
Material & finish
The haunted houses are laser-cut from 3 mm plywood. That's why the edges are smooth and have the typical brown rim that gives the designs depth. The wood is untreated, neither varnished nor glazed. So you can paint, decorate or oil it straight away. Wood is a natural material and is never completely uniform. Different shades, fine structures in the grain and small knots are part of it. That makes every piece one of a kind. The cutouts are made in our own production in Pößneck, Thuringia.

How to use the haunted houses
- On a craft afternoon: each child paints their own haunted house. By evening, there's a little ghost town on the windowsill that everyone is proud of.
- For a Halloween party: arrange different sizes in tiers on the buffet. This adds depth to your table without much decorating.
- In the shop window or on the counter: with the large sizes up to 50 cm, you set a seasonal theme in autumn. Customers can see it from outside. It's quick to set up and stores flat after the season.
- In nurseries, schools or craft groups: you can order the cutouts singly, in exactly the number and size you need. Every child gets their own design.
- As a DIY gift: a painted haunted house instead of sweets. A small gift that doesn't end up in the bin after Halloween.
Good to know about the haunted house
Halloween goes back to Irish customs around the eve of All Saints' Day. Emigrants took it to North America, and from there the custom came back to Europe. The haunted house is one of the classic motifs of the festival. That's why it works as a decoration on the party buffet as well as in an autumn shop window.
Care & durability
There's not much you need to do. Store the cutouts in a dry place and keep them away from constant moisture. Then they'll last you many Halloween seasons. As the wood is untreated, you can repaint or redesign it at any time. With a few simple steps, last year's haunted house becomes a new one.

Frequently asked questions
Can I paint the haunted houses? Yes. The plywood is untreated. You can paint it, decorate it, stick things on it or oil it, just as you like.
Why do the cutouts have a brown edge? The haunted houses are laser-cut. This creates the typical dark rim along the edges. It is part of the process and highlights the outline of the design.
Do all cutouts look the same? The shape is the same, the wood is not. As a natural material, it shows different shades, structures in the grain and occasionally small knots. This is not a defect. It makes every piece one of a kind.
Are the haunted houses suitable for outdoors? The wood is untreated and should be protected from constant moisture. The houses are best placed indoors or in a dry, covered spot, for example in a window or shop window.
Plywood and centimetres are only part of the story. What matters is the afternoon of painting at the kitchen table. And the little ghost town that glows in the window afterwards. Simply choose your favourite shapes and the right size.
